BLACKPINK Awarded Honorary MBE’s by King Charles

At a gala in England last week, BLACKPINK were made honorary Members of the Order of the British Empire by King Charles for their work in raising awareness about climate change. The group was greeted by King Charles and Queen Camilla, Prince William and Princess Kate Middleton. BLACKPINK wore demure outfits for the award ceremony where they happily took pictures with their awards.

Prince Charles greeted his audience with a few simple Korean phrases and praised South Korean entertainment culture for influencing the world.  “I applaud BLACKPINK’s Jennie, Jisoo, Lisa, and Rosé for sharing the concepts of environmental protection and sustainable development to all parts of the world. It’s very inspiring to see the younger generation of South Korea committed to this cause. I can only admire how they can prioritize these vital issues, as well as being global superstars. After so many years, you are still great partners. If there’s a chance, I’d really like to watch you perform.”

BLACKPINK is the second girl group to enter Buckingham Palace after Spice Girls in 1997.

At the gala were also South Korean president Yoon Suk Yeol, who has been on a string of international visits since the start of November, along with his wife Kim Keon Hee.
