Buying $5 Million House, Sharon Chan Moves On to Greater Things

Last year was a breakthrough year for 33-year-old Sharon Chan (陳敏之), who delivered a memorable “naked running” scene as a righteous prostitute in hit TVB drama, Ghetto Justice <怒火街頭>, helping her win the coveted 2011 TVB Best Supporting Actress Award. Greater things may be in stall for Sharon this year, as she was promoted to first-line actress in Queens of Diamonds and Hearts.

Sharon was promoted to lead actress due the recent exodus of TVB fadans. It was also rumored that former TVB executive, Stephen Chan (陳志雲), who had resumed his position of General Manager at the company after cleared of corruption allegations at the time, may have helped as well.  It was understood that Sharon had always been one of Mr. Chan’s favorite artists during his tenure. While Sharon admitted that Mr. Chan was a good former boss and good friend, Sharon denied that her promotion was due to her good relations with Mr. Chan. Due to TVB’s current staffing shortages, 2012 may pose to be a year of even greater opportunities for Sharon!

Secret Luxury Property Owner for Two Years

Sharon’s private life boded well, as Sharon became a joint property owner with boyfriend of 7 years, Lui Wai Shun (雷偉信). Mr. Lui was the owner of a lighting business. Face Magazine uncovered public property records that the couple had purchased a $4.97 million HKD condo apartment in 2010!  The unit was located within the Oscar by the Sea development in Clearwater Bay, which was five minutes by car away from TVB. The luxury complex faced beautiful water views of the Clearwater Bay area, offered an outdoor swimming pool, and exclusive Club House facilities.

Sharon admitted buying the home two years ago, but remained tight lipped as to whether her boyfriend had paid for the majority of the purchase costs.

Marriage Can Wait

Asked whether their cohabitation and joint property ownership was a sign that they will get married soon, Sharon noted that their current relationship was comfortable. Sharon stated, “We do have marriage plans, but not right now! My career is going well and I want to focus on these opportunities. My boyfriend is not rushing me to get married, as he likes to focus on his work too!”

    1. Hannah,
The view of Sharon’ s house looks dynamite. I have the feeling she is secretly married. Buying a house together is not somethjng an unmarried couple would do often.

      1. I agree, but I actually want to buy a house with my bf before we get married. Anyways, married or not, I’m happy for Sharon.

      2. Agree. I mean, especially a house that expensive. Besides it would’ve been ok given she didn’t gain fame till recently. She looks stunning in that picture.. I just think she lacks the charisma of a leading actress for some reason.

      3. Totally agree about her being married! I mean how does being married get in the way of work? I can understand if she was talking about children but really even getting engaged wouldn’t hinder her work.

  1. I’ve always liked Sharon and I’m glad that she’s getting more recognized now. Hopefully she will not disappoint in “Queens of Diamonds and Hearts.”

  2. she’s not a bad actress, but i’m not sure she’s 1st line material.

  3. $5 million HKD is not a lot of $ for a decent property in HK…anyway congrat Sharon. From all the interviews she seem like a friendly person and have a lot of friends in the industry…remind me of Ada Choi.

  4. 5 million HKD does not mean much. HK is expensive place to live. Housing price is making the world jealous.

Getting married is important but nowsaday it can be done anytime along the way. People can practice many things married couples do – sex, shared properties, living same house, and even have kids.

It is not bad when other stations join the game, artists have more opportunities to shine.

  5. I’m pretty sure there is a mistake as HKD5 million is dirt cheap in HKG. That is the price for a 600sf apartment unit in Mongkok!

  6. I am not a her fan either but she looks great in above pic 🙂

  7. Not a big fan of her, but she’s absolutely stunning.

  8. Cannot be 5 million HKD for an apartment like that. Hong Kong real estate is really expensive. A private sector/government scheme apartment 500sf apartment costs around 2-3 million HKD in the kowloon area.

I went up to a modeled luxury apartment in october last year, about 1,700sf, 4 bedrooms lowest unit cost is at about 32 million HKD, roughly 4 million USD. And that was also in the kowloon area, with private swimming pool, fitness room, balcony, recreations, but without an ocean view.
