Cecilia Cheung Attempts to Save Marriage by Flying to Malaysia with Two Sons
Cecilia Cheung (張栢芝)and Nicholas Tse’s (謝霆鋒)marriage experienced a dramatic change, with the pair contemplating divorce currently. Facing a marriage breakdown, Cecilia was eager to seek the forgiveness of her husband. Since Nic was filming The Viral Factor <逆戰> in Kuala Lumpur, Cecilia secretly flew Malaysia with two sons, Lucas and Quintus yesterday. Perhaps Cecilia was ready to kneel on the ground before Nic to beg for forgiveness, hoping that Nic will soften his heart due to their two sons! Allegedly, Cecilia was staying at her father’s house in Malaysia, quietly waiting for the right opportunity to approach Nic.
Since her friendly photo collaboration with ex-flame Edison Chen (陳冠希), Cecilia’s 5-year marriage with Nic soured. Allegedly, Nic’s $500 million net worth was wrung dry by Cecilia. He was extremely upset with Cecilia and did not celebrate her birthday in May together. Cecilia thrust her old trick at Nic by threatening to divorce. Unfortunately, Nic made a painful decision and agreed to Cecilia’s divorce request.
After Nic agreed to her divorce request, Cecilia panicked. She decided to bring Lucas and Quintus to Malaysia to reconcile her marriage with Nic. She hoped that Nic will abandon his divorce request for the sake of the children.
Since Cecilia did not want to affect the filming progress of The Viral Factor and anger Nic, she did not stay at the Hilton Hotel in Kuala Lumpur, where Nic was staying. Cecilia took temporary residence at her father’s house in Kuala Lumpur instead. Three years ago, Cecilia’s father moved to Kuala Lumpur and opened a local restaurant and entertainment company. Since then, Cecilia and her father’s relationship grew distant. Due to Cecilia’s marital strife with Nic and her need for her family’s support, recently she grew closer with her father again.

Nic was prepared for Cecilia’s arrival in Malaysia. He hired several bodyguards to prevent Cecilia from approaching him. Perhaps Cecilia could only wait quietly for the opportunity to approach Nic at his hotel room, apologize to her husband, and talk frankly about the state of their marriage.
Each time Cecilia did something wrong in the past, she would wait for Nic to calm down after his initial anger. She would apologize and ask forforgiveness. The soft-hearted Nic forgave Cecilia each time. Despite Cecilia’s shattering nude photo scandal with Edison Chen (陳冠希) in 2008, Nic forgave her after Cecilia knelt on the ground asking for forgiveness. Unfortunately, Cecilia pushed the stakes too far this time, causing Nic to feel there was no turning point and clinched his decision to end their marriage.
Reporters contacted Nic’s parents, Patrick Tse (謝賢)and Deborah Dik (狄波拉), who did not provide comments regarding Cecilia and Nic’s marriage. Nic’s EEG manager, Mani Fok (霍汶希), said there were no new developments.
Cecilia Cheung Joins Media Asia to Become Colleagues with Edison Chen
In addition, the newspaper reported yesterday that Cecilia will be signing a 3-year contract with Media Asia at a price of $100 million (HKD). Cecilia reached an agreement with Media Asia and will officially sign the contract shortly. Since Edison Chen works for Media Asia, Cecilia will become colleagues with Edison and there will be greater the opportunities for collaboration. Jayne: Earlier, Nic predicted that Cecilia will take their sons and fly to Malaysia in an attempt to reconcile their marriage. Allegedly, Nic said he will not let Cecilia arrive on the set. Since Cecilia is already in Malaysia, I doubt Nic will go through the separation process without even discussing the issues thoroughly with Cecilia. If his mind is bent on divorce, nothing she say will change his decision.
If Cecilia will indeed sign a contract with Media Asia, her chances of additional rumors with Edison will increase. This is so foolish! The paparazzi would not let such a juicy angle slip away! Why not forfeit money if her reconciliation with Nic meant so much?
What does everyone think of the latest turn in events?
I feel nothing but contempt for women using children to coerce the husband into forgiving them. Cecilia must face the issues head on; if she has a problem, the reconciliation because of the children will only be temporary. If she wants something permanent, she must examine what is the cause of breakdown. If she is the problem, then she has to seek help. IF she is part of the problem, they both need to seek help. No point in maintaining an unworkable marriage and a divorce is best when either the children are too young to know or old enough to understand.
Cecilia’s parents divorced when she was very young; it affected her. Young children, especially children around Lucas’ age, will remember and will feel the effect. Just recently, I watched an interview with Cecilia and Stephen Chow, and Cecilia admitted that she and the children only get to see Nic for 4 months, and then he’s gone because of work. Cecilia also accepted 4 movies in one year, which tells me that she wanted Nic to work less and put more time into the family. Cecilia is definitely part of the problem, and so is Nic. I don’t ever trust articles 100 percent. Every article made Cecilia seem to be the sole source of the problem because of her crazy self in the early 2000’s.
I agree with you Cloud and I don’t think we should believe everything 100% in every article that we read ever. We all know how reporters like to add in and take things out. Also, they are not the celebs themselves so how would they know 100% what the true facts are??
Reading this article is pretty old news since I think that I heard about this days ago in a series of other articles. However, since this “rumour” about them divorcing keeps on occuring over and over again, I sense that there is some truth to it although we may not know what is fact and what is fiction.
Cecilia seems to be put in a bad light in practically every article that we have read. I think the main fault that Nic is has is that he is away from the family a lot due to work. But I think that every wife should understand that BEFORE they marry any artist/celeb because that is required due to the type of work that they do. I feel that Cecilia should understand that more since she is an artist herself, however, it doesn’t seem that she does.
Also, I don’t think it is right of her to use the kids to try to save the marriage. That can only save it temporary and then if she is back to her old self again, then the cycle will repeat itself over and over again. I think that she and Nic both have to see what the problems are then try to solve them if they want to save their marriage. However, it sure feels that their marriage can’t be saved at this point. But who really knows, what if they can save it if they break down the problems and try to solve them??
I hope that they will try to protect the kids as much as possible since they are innocent. It is just sad if Nic has to divorce because he will be following in the footsteps of his parents. That affected him a lot and I know that he doesn’t want that for his kids. However, if it gets to that point then he has no choice. I hope that they will keep the kids together regardless of what happens.
I also wanted to add that one of my favorites Vincent Jiao looked like he had a happy family and all, but one day his wife requested to divorce him which shocked me. I wondered what the reasons were as well… I guess you never know what can happen in the future.
But Jayne, HK is a small world. She can’t avoid Edison. It is just a company, not personal relationship.
So far I have yet to see any news article saying Cecilia is in Msia with the 2 kids…since I always check out TVB news on local newspapers everyday. If the news on Cecilia has arrived msia with her 2 kids planning to seek forgiveness from Nic is true..I’d say..Cecilia, slim chance.

From all media accounts, Cecilia sounds desperate to save her marriage with Nic. Even Nic predicted that she would arrive in Malaysia because he understood her behavior pattern too well. She was the one who threatened marriage, yet she didn’t really mean it. I think there is a high chance she is there, although I’m not sure whether the photo from the Appledaily article was in fact taken days ago or whether it was an older photo they happened to pull from archives to use with the article.
It seems that she is desperate to save her marriage, but then again she keeps on doing stupid things like taking pictures with Edison and now possibly being in the same company with him too?? That just feels kind of contradictory. I don’t think it is healthy to stay in an unhappy marriage. There are times that a marriage may last, but is it happy or not is another question…

The pictures attached to this article was already on WEIBO a month before the news of their marriage on rocks came to light.Makes it hard to believe this article when they can’t even provide valid pictures….
I wonder if everything will take a big twist if Cecilia suddenly announced that she was pregnant with the 3rd child?There were rumours that she was pregnant, but not sure how true it is.
After reading this article, I can’t help but feel horrible for the children. Eventhough it’s the adult fault, the children are the one mostly impacted. I know Quintus might still be too young to remember but Lucas is a little older and perhaps can comprehend. If the divorce does go through, I hope they will keep it civilized and not cause too much impact on the kids. As for the adults, no comments, it takes two to make or break a relationship. Eventhough it does sound like Cecelia is the one at fault, claims per each articles, we never know what cause her to be the way she is.
You gotta laugh at the ‘forgiveness for the kneeling’ part of the story. I think it’s the first time ever I’ve read it happened in real life, I know it happens a lot in TVB old dramas. Well, it may very well be true…who knows.
My take on the story is that Cecilia is an insecure woman (who apparently got her education in TVB/film scripts) thinks by giving birth to sons (=children) and using them as armour, her marriage can be salvaged. I have to give some credits to Nicholas for sticking that long, although in my opinion I don’t think he is a saint either although every reporter writing the story is siding with him.
As always the victims are never those who created them, but bystanders and here they are their small children. What a shame.
Cecelia must realized by now that the men surrounding her gave her immense grief namely her family, her husband, her “boyfriend”.
Now its time to wake up to her senses The past is behind and she has to map a new course of life. One without scandals swirling around. Others have done and so can she.
There are two more men in her life, her two small sons. If she does not want their lives to be a messed up(a fine example, that Edison toad)she should know what to do.
Do not believe everything you read in the news. All movie-stars have managers and PR representatives who build up an image for their fans. The truth may be he is the one who wants to get out of the relationship all these time. The media is too bias towards him, painting him as a nice guy but is that real? what about the innocent Gillian Chung before the photo scandal? He might have been ignoring her for a long time, waiting for any excuse to divorce her. She put her career on hold to have his children (very rare in HK movie world). She was a bigger star than him when they get married. Any women who would do that have to love children genuinely. She is entitled to a portion of his assets as they are married for a few years and she was a stay-home mum. She is also entitled to the custody of the children. Lets step back and think… who could be the real person who leaks these damaging stories to the media??
If I remember correctly, Cecilia only started putting her career on hold after the photo scandal broke out.
