Eddie Peng’s Charitable Personality Revealed

Eddie Peng (彭于晏) has a generous and beautiful heart. For the past 10 years, Eddie and his friends would visit local hospitals on Christmas Eve to see children with cancer. The children love Eddie’s contagious smile and positive attitude that they call him “Donut Brother”.

Who knew that behind this act of generosity there was an emotional story. Blackie Chen (陳建州) first started their annual visit in 2009 and established the “LoveLife” project to give joy to those who are suffering. During this time, Eddie was in the midle of a contract dilemma with his company, which led to a downfall in his career. Blackie constantly encouraged him and helped him back on his feet, which included introducing Eddie to his new charitable project. The good friends set off to Taipei and visited over 93 kids who were suffering from cancer.

From this trip, Eddie made this project his annual tradition. Whenever he visits the children, he always brings them donuts, which led to his current nickname as “Donut Brother”.

Blackie believes that these visits are necessary because not only are they helping others, but also themselves. He wants everyone involved in the project to feel a sense of giving and love.

Eddie’s positivity to help others must have turned his luck around because in 2011, his fame began to rise again. For his role in Jump Ashin! <翻滾吧!阿信>, he was nominated for Best Actor in the Golden Horse Awards, while the children he visits watched and supported their “Donut Brother” from behind the screen.

Though his fame rose, Eddie never forgets to visit the hospital each year. This Christmas Eve visit was extra special for Eddie and Blackie because through rescheduling, they were able to return to Taipei to see 93 kids. That surprise definitely made the children and parents more emotional!
