Grace Wong is Too Busy to Have Kids

Actress Grace Wong (王君馨) attended French brand Melvita’s yoga event donning sexy sportswear and expressed she gave up exercising recently due to her busy schedule. Currently shooting for the upcoming TVB drama, Chinatown <唐人街>, the 33-year-old said she doesn’t have enough time to rest, let alone do other things.

“I originally needed to work out and practice kung-fu for my character, but I can only use my husband’s (Daniel Chang) body-building milk powder and nutritious food as substitutes,” Grace shared. “Thankfully, shooting will be finished at the end of the month. Then, I will go to Africa with my husband to preach. My church doesn’t have a lot of people, but we already helped 10 charitable organizations!”

When asked about her baby plans, Grace said it’s definitely not a good time to get pregnant with her busy schedule. However, she will continue to enjoy alone time with her husband. “We will have a honeymoon every year. Right now, we are thinking of going to Europe at the end of the year. I won’t say too much because I want to give him a surprise when the time comes,” the star said.

To give a sense of how swamped she is at work, she revealed she hasn’t been watching The Defected <鐵探>, and missed last night’s broadcast of the scene in which she was allegedly raped by a pervert. Grace stated, “It was the most painstaking scene of the whole drama, as the tragic atmosphere was created by man-made rain and we filmed that scene for eight to ten hours. At first, we just created a light shower, but we decided to turn it into a downpour. I couldn’t see Benjamin Yuen (袁偉豪) in front of me. It was a very memorable scene. We also rehearsed the scene first before filming.”

As her husband usually accompanies her to watch dramas, he hasn’t been following the show as well. “I’ve also wondered what he would think about the scene, but I’m sure he would understand that it’s just acting. Also, there’s a lot of communication going on for scenes like that, so it’s very safe,” Grace promised.

  1. 33 is still pretty young. few of my friends got married at 37/38 and still managed to get pregnant w/in a few months. then there are some that get married young and still have hard time conceiving. you and your partner are either fertile or aren’t.

  2. Maybe she waited until she get to win tv queen one day then it’s a baby plan for her. Yes have to agree she’s still young as her age.

  3. I actually stood next to her when I was checking into a hotel in december last year. She sounds exactly like how she does on TV and in TV series, looking the same. All same.

  4. Is her r@p3 scene even necessary? I h8te when tvb adds unnecessary disturbing scenes just to gain pity ratings or leave a deeper impression.

    1. @coralie Not only the scene, but her entire role was unnecessary.

They could eradicate her character completely from the show, and it would take nothing away from the story/plot. Her whole on-again, off-again relationship with Ben was so pointless and boring.

      1. @oystergirl I wouldn’t say that she was completely unnecessary. Her role served to highlight how committed Ben is to his work, to the point where he would drop his family with no hesitation whenever he is called in. Plus, with his daughter, we get to see his fatherly side, and the daughter gets involved with Philip’s kid.

      2. @kaylkuo @eleven

I think the lack of quality time spent with his daughter and complete disregard for his health were more than sufficient to show his dedication to his job; no need to add Grace into the mix.

In fact, I kind of wish they had paired him up with Sisley instead, since these two actually shared a mutual understanding for one another. Both bonded through having similar goals and were passionate about contributing to society, whereas he and Grace had little common ground, making their relationship feel very forced.

The fact that they had nothing in common (aside from sharing a daughter) was probably the reason why they had zero chemistry.

      3. @oystergirl
Couldn’t feel any connect between Ben and Grace and it didn’t make sense for Grace to accept him back when Ben hadn’t even slightly changed his attitude on his work. Quite crazy to have 2 characters who really wanted to die for their jobs…

      4. @jimmyszeto Yup, made no sense.

Especially considering that the first thing to come out of his mouth when he woke from the hospital was, “Did they catch the criminal?”, rather than inquiring about her well-being. From the look on her face when he asked, I thought for sure she would leave him for good this time around.

But I guess the writers were trying to convince us that she had come to terms with the fact that his job will always take precedence over his personal life, and that she was finally willing to love him in spite of it. That, or she just stuck around more so out of pity than love.

    2. @coralie Well her rape scene was to show that Ben’s injury had such a massive effect on him that he couldn’t even do anything while his wife was being raped.

It was just to add to the tragedy of Ben’s character and make the viewers sympathise with him more.

      1. @eleven Mmm I haven’t caught the rest of the series yet, but don’t think I will now, because of this scene. I still don’t think it’s necessary for it to be his wife. I understand it emphasizes his helpless state and like you said, to make viewers sympathize with him more. But it could’ve been others who are close to him, like his friends, colleagues or even bystanders. Heck, this scene doesn’t have to occur at all. The fact they made it her, to draw more attention to them both and viewers into the episode, feels like a cheap trick. It cheapens the plot, too. If you have a really good engaging plot, it doesn’t require rating tricks like these.

      2. @coralie That is true. I also thought it was unnecessary. This series had a lot of cheap, poorly written scenes, to get our “sympathy”, such as Matt & Sisley getting together before his death, despite having a character arc for Sisley to get over Matts rejection and the fact that Matt had “someone else”.

Overall it’s a mediocre series that uses cheap, overused tricks to grab the views attention. What’s even sad is that it’s still one of the better series of the past year.
