Jackie Chan Celebrates 36th Wedding Anniversary with Joan Lin

In his career, it is undeniable that Jackie Chan (成龍) is a megastar and is endearingly referred to as “Big Brother”. In his personal life, however, Jackie has been branded a heartless womanizer. In addition to his notorious affairs, Jackie’s name is tarnished for neglecting his illegitimate daughter, Etta Ng (吳卓林). With his abundance of love affairs, many are surprised and shocked that his wife, Joan Lin (林鳳嬌), has remained by his side.

In the early years of their marriage Jackie was not a good husband. However, the 64-year-old actor seems to have a change in behavior recently and displayed a rare side of himself. On Chinese Valentine’s Day, Jackie took the opportunity to declare his love for his wife of 36 years. On his social media, he posted a throwback photo of the couple and a more recent photo of them together.

Jackie wrote, “Today is Chinese Valentine’s Day. Although I have always grown up learning about Chinese culture, I seldom celebrate these types of holidays. I have never seriously spent and enjoyed this holiday. I have never been a romantic person. Joan is also not a person who cares for these gestures. One time, when I gave her a large bouquet of roses, she called me mental. This time, though, I want to send Joan a song: ‘Thank you for a Lifetime’. Having known her for so many years, I have often told her ‘Thank you’. Thank you for cooking for me.  Thank you for ironing my clothes. Thank you for taking such good care of my two dogs, JJ and Jones. Thank you for taking care of my parents. Thank you for always being by our son, Jaycee Chan’s (房祖名) side. I think I will have to say these two words to you for the rest of my life. I have prepared this gift for more than two years. I want to thank Jay Chou (周杰倫) and Preston Lee (李安修) for helping me. Since I have put in so much effort into this gift, I’m sure she won’t call me mental again! This year is my 36th wedding anniversary with Joan. In addition to the song, I also want to say to her: Joan, I love you I also want to wish everyone a happy Valentine’s Day! I love you all as well.”

  1. His post and action are so hallow with alternative motive. It’s still all about “me, me, me.” It’s not just his/my anniversary; it’s theirs/ours anniversary. He went full circle to say he’s thoughtful and would’ve show more affection but it’s his wife fault because she called him crazy when he tried. *rolls eyes*

Who tf thank other people, famous ones at that, when “declaring love” anyways? Lol, showy and braggy; hey, look at me I wrote a song and I am so important that I can get super star famous people to help.

Lastly, what kind of declaration of love when there’s no mention of love? Again, it’s all about I I and I.

    How fake!

    1. @jjwong my take is he always at the front, and she’s always at the back support him. So in the song, it’s from his perspective. And many spouses said things like that when they received gifts from their husband, but deep down they like it.

I still don’t think Jackie is a great person or that his wife is great either (if I have that kind of influences like the song implies I do, I would do a much better job at helping his daughter), however, through the song, I can kinda understand why Jackie won’t help Ella, because he felt like he betrayed his wife (which he did, but only once he official paying and what’s not then it really become official), and this is why I don’t think his wife is great either.

Anyway, I picked rain’s declaration of love for Kim Tae hee over this song 🙂 however, this is a nice song, kudo to the composer and the lyric writer
