Kenneth Ma, Edwin Siu Film “Deep in the Realm of Conscience”

Grand production Deep in the Realm of Conscience <深宮計> started filming yesterday.  Centered around the lives of the royal family living in the imperial palace, the drama stars Steven Ma (馬浚偉), Annie Liu (劉心悠), Chrissie Chau (周秀娜), Kenneth Ma (馬國明), Edwin Siu (蕭正楠), and Candy Lo (羅霖).

Although the drama features many actresses,  Edwin, who is currently dating Priscilla Wong (黃翠如), said he will not look their way, Kenneth joked, “Why can’t you look! There are so many beautiful women, you can still look even after you’re married!”

Asked whether he will be romantically paired with rumored girlfriend Jacqueline Wong (黃心穎) in the series, Kenneth shrugged, “I don’t know yet – but I know that she likes me because I end up saving her.”

While Edwin and Kenneth joked around, Candy – who has not filmed in over 20 years, expressed her nervousness in this production. Revealing that her heart was racing on the first day, Candy said, “I memorized my script yesterday, but everyone’s standards are very high. This is my first ancient costume drama as well so my heart has never beat so quickly before!”

Although Candy has the most scenes opposite her on-screen rival, Angie Cheong (張慧儀), she laughed and said she does not have much experience in yelling at people besides her son.

  1. I mean, I know the likes of Annie Liu & Chrissie Chau are the spotlight of this drama, but how can they not even mention Angie Cheong? LOVE Angie. Will watch this just for her (and Annie Liu too.)

    1. @coralie Probably because Angie is not famous enough. I love Angie too but knowing TVB, I doubt she will have much screen time in this series unfortunately.

Anyway…anyone else noticed A Kindred Spirit reunion with Angie and Candy? And they are playing love rivals again too? LOL…not sure if that was done on purpose or purely coincidence. Wait, is Ben Wong in this series too? If not, they should give him a cameo role or something to make the “reunion” complete – now if Ben, Angie, and Candy were in a series together again, I would most likely watch!

      1. @llwy12 i didn’t know candy lo was in “a kindred spirits.” i didn’t know she was “Seung Seung”! I loved her in that series. i felt like maybe that was her last representative work and then she just disappeared…got married, maybe?

      2. @coralie I don’t remember if Candy returned to ATV after A Kindred Spirit (since she started at ATV as winner of Miss Asia pageant), but she did eventually get married (to that rich benefactor dude we always see on those charity galas for Po Leung Kuk and Tung Wah) and had 3 kids with him, but then they divorced I think it was last year or the year before so she returned to the entertainment industry after that. Overall I can’t really comment on Candy’s acting since she hasn’t done much of it to be honest, but I do agree that her role as “Sheung Sheung” in A Kindred Spirit is her most representative work to date. It will be interesting to see what her storyline with “Chor Yiu” (Angie) will be this time around, lol.

Candy did act in 2 ATV series after ‘A Kindred Spirit’. One of then is ‘Venture Against Time’ which is a very good series (except for the unsatisfactory ending).

    2. @coralie

Was Angie’s name at the end of the article. The ones who truly didn’t get mentioned at all in the article are Pinky Cheung and Akina Hong.

I really like Pinky Cheung when she’s in ATV. Hope to see her more in the future since she finally succeed in signing with TVB.

  2. Apart from Steven, this is an incredibly weak cast. A mandarin speaker, a model, Kenneth who is better in comedies, Edwin(worst actor ever), 2 retired kindred spirit part time actresses. I feel sorry for Steven. Everytime he comes back, he has been given a lot of rubbish to work with.
