Michelle Ye Caught Picking Her Nose

Michelle Ye (葉璇) is losing her manners on the set of Azalea <映山紅>, her latest self-produced television drama. Photos of an unladylike Michelle picking her nose headlined tabloids yesterday, as she acted uninhibitedly without sensing the paparazzi’s presence.

Azalea Michelle YeOn May 1, a traditionally-dressed Michelle arrived on the set of her latest television drama Azalea, looking prepared for an entire day of filming ahead. Azalea is Michelle’s latest self-produced drama, a romantic epic set in the late 1920s in Mainland China. Michelle stars in the series; the rest of the cast includes Huang Xiaolei (黄小蕾), Tian Hairong (田海蓉), and Monica Mok (莫小棋).

Since leaving TVB to film movies and Mainland dramas, Michelle’s status in the industry has tripled, becoming not only one of the most popular leading actresses of the nation, but also one of the country’s most popular television drama producers. However, despite her dignified image, Michelle lost some of that armor of perfection on the set of Azalea at Hengdian World Studios yesterday.

Michelle was seen picking her nose during the entire time she was reading her script. Allegedly, she did not wash her hand before touching a male actor’s hand. Although she was surrounded by crew members, she stuck her hand inside her pants to scratch herself. She also appeared to be very close with various male staff.

Azalea has been in production since March 2014 and is slated for 30 episodes.

    1. she is also an artist with an image to uphold.

my question for you is: Would you ever pick your nose in public (you being an artist) and that these images will be seen by thousands or even millions?

      1. Even we ordinary mortals don’t pick our noses in public. …ewww!!! So embarrassing to be caught red handed!
I don’t know who this disgusting nose picker is but she looks vaguely familiar. Did she act in some tvb or atv drama where she was one of a pair of sisters who got separated from her family when she was young?

      2. @asdjfl;ajksdf Why are you so serious?? Are you unhappy with your life!!! I just saying she just a human. Yes of course is not ladylike & unhygienic. I just don’t understand why reporter find this as news. That’s all!!

      3. Of course it is news. That is the price to pay for being famous. Celebrities will always have tabloids after them no matter what. In exchange they got fame and money for being famous.
Hey, even news like Karena visit Raymond on set even make big headlines. Why? Because they are celebrities, LOL! Nobody would care if us normal people, visit our boyfriend at work.
Ofcourse if reporters can snap a pic of Michelle pick her nose, they will publish it. I be surprise if they Don’t, LOL!

      4. I agree with Leila too. Her image is her value. She has chosen to be in a industry that will judge her base on her image. She is a human like you and I but even I will not pick my nose for all to see. I will do so in the bathroom. Picking her nose in public is not a image that will look good for her. Not washing her hands after she has done so just makes the matter look worse for her. I am glad I am not a celeb. I do not earn as much doing regular job but what I do each day will be be judged by thousands.

  1. Lol!!!!! Everyone do it but that’s just bad luck someone caught u doing it!! At least use a tissue to cover up and pick it.

      1. Good thing she didn’t rub it on her clothes but rubbed it off the actor’s hand. LOL!

    1. LMAO* it’s okay. it’s okay. it’ll just be memorable. xDD

    2. Yes,everyone does it, but sadly some are unfortunate to get caught. I wonder what the next article will be?? Celebrities that get caught farting on the set??? sigh… It is so hard to be a public figure.

      1. As farting can’t be seen from pics, I’m guessing butt/groin scratching or probably zit picking/squeezing would prolly be next

      2. Oh yea, that is true. But hey, they can record farting if it does occur. I have heard that some celebs have farted during some shows and interviews.

  2. is this news? who doesnt picking their nose?

    1. I don’t pick my nose in public and still not wash my hand after I have done so. Base on your comments. Can you imagine a Chef who picks his nose and not wash his hands and start kneading the bread you eat for breakfast. Is that still acceptable? Picking nose is a bad habit but not washing your hands after picking instead she shakes someone’s hands with it. That is just rude and un-hygenic.

  3. If she never picked her nose before, then it would be strange/weird

  4. “Allegedly, she did not wash her hand before touching a male actor’s hand. Although she was surrounded by crew members, she stuck her hand inside her pants to scratch herself. ”

Ahhh very unladylike. Picking nose is ok. Just wash before shaking people’s hands. Now that is inconsiderate and that is of course should be the news.

      1. OMG!!! Good thing I don’t like LF! Pick his nose in front of a guy eating too. So no manners and his phone probably full of bacteria.

      2. Raymond Lam and Karena truly deserve each other. BBQ pork is his thing. LOL!

  5. Are you kidding me when i was in china, everyone and their grandmother was picking their nose. If it itch pick it.

    1. Don’t forget to bring toilet paper. LOL! Nose picking in the bathroom or in the comfortable of your home is alright but don’t forget to wash up right after the what what. Boys don’t forget to use toilet paper to dab and girls don’t forget to wipe. Little things go a long way. cleanliness for good health.

      1. Tourists got off the bus for toilet. Many did not flush. Time to use the foot on the handle to flush. LOL! Little things go a long way money or not. LOL!

  6. So what? We do it all the time. I don’t see any problem at all.

    1. There is different between do it publicly or privately. Either way, use a tissue is so much harder? Wash your hand is too hard, too?

My aunty would slap her hand if she saw that nose picking in front of her! Lol

      1. I agree that there’s a difference b/w doing it publicly and privately. I myself don’t prefer doing it publicly b/c it’s too embarrassed. What I don’t understand is why media would take it as a big deal and put it on headlined tabloid to embarrass her. It’s just nose picking. It’s not like she has done something terrible.

      2. Not if you’re the one shaking her hands after she picked her nose and not clean!

      3. The problem is 1 – she is doing it publicly, and 2 – she didn’t clean her hands and touch other hand with her nose picking hands lawl. Those are pretty terrible :p

    2. Base on your comments. Can you imagine a Chef who picks his nose and not wash his hands and start kneading the bread you eat for breakfast. Can you really accept someone who does that to the food you each? Is that still acceptable? Picking nose is a bad habit but not washing your hands after picking instead she shakes someone’s hands with it. That is just rude and in-hygenic.

      1. “Picking nose is a bad habit”

Let me ask you, is any of us here who doesn’t do nose picking? Some people might use tissue but some might just pick their nose then wash it. Of course, I can’t accept a chef picking his nose then touches the food but do we really know whether he does that or not? Unless we see it ourselves. Otherwise we would just eat like there’s nothing happened. Like I said, I don’t see picking nose is a big problem at all. It’s just I don’t understand why it is headlined tabloid by the media. She’s so unlucky to get caught by the paps for doing it publicly. This article is just simply to make her look bad.

      2. ” This article is just simply to make her look bad.”

That is the entire point of this article. That being said, be classy. Use tissue. Again a picture records a milisecond permanently. So it could be she was digging for “gold” in that exact 5 seconds the picture was taken. 5 seconds in reality is very fast but in a picture, that is a lifetime. So she is unfortunate but again be classy, use tissue.

  7. All of us pick our noses and scratch ourselves. What is so news worthy about this?. So picking your nose is unladylike?. Only in Asia!!, LOL. The part that made me howl with laughter is when the article said that Michelle lost some of her amor of perfection. I guess she lost it because she picked her nose and scratched herself.

To all you Chinese women, do not pick your nose or scratch yourself, especially in public, or you will loose some of your amor of perfection. You may not find a husband, and could become an outcast who should be stoned, lol, lol, lol.

I do agree that she should have washed her hands though.

  8. Sorry, it may seem like bad habits … Because you’re in the public eye….you need to look good..

    1. Sorry, but I think Asians demand too much public and private perfection from these people. No wonder when these celebs do human things and make human mistakes, they are considered less than perfect and are ostracized and cast away. What a sad way to view and live life.

  9. oh god, i would feel so embarrassed if i were her….

  10. ah, leave her alone, she’s digging for gold…looks like she’s digging pretty deep lol. but seriously, ever heard of kleenex?

  11. She is looking for treasure, nothing wrong with that.

  12. it must suck to get caught picking your nose but she shouldve did that in the bathroom

    1. Yes… anyone remember the scene from a movie of Sandra Ng digging her nose and flicking the treasure to another person? Bet that needs constant rehearsal to get it perfect for camera 😀

  13. i bet everyone does it, but did not get caught like her LOL she must be really embarrassed right now. remember ppl! use tissues! lolol

  14. Lol, never like her, and this is another minus hahaha. I could understand the urge of picking your nose, but you should have tissue on hand and do it with it! What is her PA doing o.0?!

  15. Michelle looks very natural in the above pic (the one she’s picking her nose).

    1. And I’ve just given a second look at the other picture (the one she’s opening her mouth). She looks very unnatural. Perhaps, because of her acting? Or her looks?

  16. Haven’t we always taught at school that it’s hygeinic to pick nose in the bathroom? It’s also showed that you have manners that a lot of asians dont have

    1. Not only asians have no manners, but I even found out that asian artists also tend to have no manners proudly and freely. Kevin Cheng was also picking his nose when eating crabs ( pics taken), and Linda Chung’s rumored boyfriend (forgotten his name) was peeing in the street. WTH??? Peeing and picking nose in the public? I’m not saying these do not happen in the west, but those do these will definitely be taken by the police–at least peeing–for polluting the land.

  17. And also y do most chinese need to spit?

    1. Everyone spits because you have a glob of slime in your mouth and have to spit it out. You have it even more when you are sick.

    2. Agreed, why? Who do “gross” people expect to clean up after them? How can they stand looking at grounds littered with crap that people may trek home/wherever. Young kids often fall down and touch the ground with their little hands, which may go right into their mouths. So gross and unsanitary!!! All tangible human waste (snot, spit, pee, whatever 屎, etc.) should be dealt with in private and in a cleanly manner.

  18. She’s ugly, never liked her & her acting. She used to
Have a mustache too in an old tvb series I’ve
    Seen her in.

  19. lol let her dig. just bad timing everyone does that rightt???

  20. You guys never seen people just walk out from the bathroom without washing their hands or no flushing toilet whether from the malls or workplace etc… american does it alot.

    1. azndoraemon,

I think some men may have a tendency to not wash their hands since they didn’t “wipe” while using the toilet.

However, I fail to understand why some women don’t like to wash their hands after using the toilet. The only reason I can think of is that they have lotion on their hands and don’t want to reapply after wetting their hands?

      1. Jayne,

Not wiping while using the toilet does not mean washing hands is not necessary. It is still dirty, after all.

      2. I heard that my health science teacher did not wash her hands after using the restroom. That was shocking to me because she taught health science afterall so I thought she would know the risks of spreading germs if your hands were not washed after using the restroom.

      3. Bacteria are everywhere in the restroom. Especially the door handle or doorknob. Some women don’t like to wash their hands because they don’t like to wipe themselves. Disgusting bad habits.

      4. As for the guys they need to be taught by their partners. LOL!

      5. “As for the guys they need to be taught by their partners.”

Some women wouldn’t even bother, they’re gone as soon as they see the first spit/nose pick. Too much fundamental work. haha 🙂

      6. Personally I think it is just as important for men to wash their hands after using the toilets. Their hands will be dirtier than women’s. If a woman uses tons of toilet paper, her hands can stay dry and clean. I have heard from my husband that a lot of men don’t wash their hands after going to toilets. Disgusting!!

  21. This has the be the funniest article/pic in sometime. LOL!

The person who took this pic and released it to the public must really hate her. This goes to show be careful who you step on…or possibly mistreat.

Even if this a normal thing most people do….in private…..this can’t look good on your image. She’s like the Booger Girl now. 😛

  22. Perhaps Mainland culture is more lax about picking one’s nose in public (without a tissue). Michelle knows this and thus she seems relaxed in the photos.

We are looking at the incident based on our own society’s standards of etiquette. It is not socially acceptable to pick nose among colleagues or even friends without a tissue. Or even in a public restroom in front of mirror for all to see. Family members are more accepting.

    1. Yeah, agree with your point on our own society’s standards of etiquette. As the saying goes, “When in Rome, do as the Romans do”. Everybody should spit, pick nose, pee, not wash your hands after using the toilet, etc.

Now let me rephrase it: when in Asia, don’t do as the Asians do.

    2. I heard that the mainland culture is sort of “rude” so doing those things are things that they do not consider as gross or anything. I have observed it with my older relatives who also freely pick their noses in front of other family members or at family gatherings. However, not sure if any of them would do it in public though….

      1. If they are not doing it in public then they should not be doing it at the family gatherings. Some Asian men have little respect for the women. Some were brought up like that. Male chauvinist.

  23. well i know alot of people will be saying that shes human blah blah. i agree and as humans i dont think its a good image for yourself (whoever you are) to pick ur nose infront of people LOOOL!

  24. I would never pick my nose or scratch in certain areas in public since that is just not comfortable. I also cannot pick nose so must use Q tips.

    1. I would always use a tissue a well. Just because it’s a normal human thing to do, doesn’t mean you don’t worry about hygiene. Can’t believe she didn’t even wash her hands after. I feel queasy for the guy she touched :-$

      1. From the photos she used her right hand to pick her nose and left hand to shake hand. Michelle did a good job entertaining everyone of her nose picking. LOL!

    1. Oh god, this lady doesn’t have the look, n now definitely, no charm lol!

Isn’t she from hk? I thought hk are well manner? Lie a lot more than mainland, dk, just base on observing my hk friend lol

    2. So unladylike. She sits like no manners too. Her legs are up. Just cross your legs while u read your script!

    3. Right hand pinky finger picking her nose. Looking at her left hand pinky finger. Left hand shaking hand with the guy. Facts from photos. Disgustingly funny.

“she stuck her hand inside her pants to scratch herself”

      Exaggerating the facts.

      1. Adding salt and pepper to her wound or what. LOL!

      2. kiwi, they not exaggerating the facts. Michelle indeed pick her nose with both hands, she also pick it with left hand too. Just the news above didn’t include that pic.
Here the pic from another news source, that show she use her left pinky finger to pick too. Surprisely she seem very comfortable, maybe in China it the norm to pick nose in public? LOL!
You can click to see http://news.qtv.com.cn/system/2014/05/01/011363551_01.shtml

Is fine she pick nose, we all do right? But since being someone famous, in exchange for fame and money, she know that tabloids will always be after her to hunt for news. She should be more careful next time when do things like this in public.

      3. “Is fine she pick nose, we all do right? But since being someone famous, in exchange for fame and money, she know that tabloids will always be after her to hunt for news. She should be more careful next time when do things like this in public.”

Agreed! Thanks. Good luck to her.

  25. I would watch a drama with Michelle Ye picking her nose.

Very few actresses can carry a nose picking scene like Michelle Ye.

  26. Wah, what drama is this from!? this rehearsal scene is so realistic, must be good drama. Can’t wait of this nose picking drama

    1. Maybe she’s doing it to advertise her work.

  27. Lol, feel bad for her, so embarassing.
Y mostly chinese spit but most americans don’t?

    1. Americans do spit but just not as often or as much in public, but I have seen them do it. I do only when I really need to or try to do it when others are not around.

      1. HeTieShou,

Were those americans immigrants from other countries? I have never seen people who were raised in america or any western countries did this. I mean, spitting in public.

      2. I have a variety of Americans do it and some are from other countries and some are Caucasians that are born and raised here.

    2. “Y mostly chinese spit but most americans don’t?”

Maybe because countries with higher standard of living tend to be more health conscious and law enforcing? It all depends on the government/laws and enforcement. For example, Singapore has high fines for similar littering.

      1. Yea, I heard that they are really strict in Singapore and you are fined if you are caught spitting on the ground.

      2. Friends from Singapore tell me that people rarely step on gum there because of the hefty fines. The “hot” weather in Singapore makes melted gum on the ground very messy business.

      3. Very old news. In fact to buy gum you need to get it from a pharmacy or some prescription or something. This is why Singapore is so clean. And as the old joke goes, a “fine” city.

      4. China should be more health/hygiene conscious too and impose more laws and enforcement regarding littering. It will definitely do the country/world good health-wise.

      5. “In fact to buy gum you need to get it from a pharmacy or some prescription or something. This is why Singapore is so clean. And as the old joke goes, a “fine” city.”

Agreed! The heart of the matter.

      6. From what I have seen in Singapore, it is not as clean as people always say. I saw trash on the grass of a garden few days and until I leave, it is still there. The budget terminal has a lot of dust. Sentosa is not very clean. The metro station is smelly. The streets have opened trash can. Yes, it is overall cleaner than KL or some other cities in the world but definitely not the cleanest place in the world.

      7. Was there recently, yes less clean because more tourists I suppose and depending from which country. However generally still very very very very very clean.

      8. A Singaporean told me that it was because of too many Malaysians immigrated into Singapore to make Singapore dirtier. Not sure if it is correct or not. But amongst all cities I visited, Burkingham is the cleanest.

By the way I think the Indians out of India is more smelly than the ones living in India. The Indian Singaporean are the example.

      9. Absolute rubbish. How many Malaysian emigrated there? Moreover Singaporeans and Malaysians are basically the same. How about Singaporeans driving like crazy once crossed borders? It is due to a lot of tourists. And tourists are not only from Malaysia.

      10. Both of you know nothing. SG is getting dirtier now because too many foreigners or so called FT-Foreign Talents especially Pinoys, PRC, Banglasias and others including the Indonesians and Malaysians and less civilized Europeans. Too many Pinoys in Orchard Road now making it dirty and overcrowded and my god these people are noisy and talk at the top of their lung! SG is much better off when there were only Singaporeans!

      11. At least SG is still among the cleanest although these dirty foreigners are worsening it. I’ve been to Paris, NYC, Ho Chi Minh City, Beijing, Manila, KL and they’re all a lot dirtier than SG!

      12. Japan cities and European cities such as those in denmark, Germany are the cleanest.

      13. Only the tourists contribute gargages? None citizens? Sound nonsense to me. Singaman might make more scenes about the FT. Amongst the FTs, which country they came to Singapore the most?

      14. I agree with Singaman. SG start getting dirtier and messier after SG opening up to more foreigners. Nowadays my friend said she sees lots more of PRC around than Singaporean Chinese, and their manners are too different than Singaporeans. Sigh.

      15. I’m from SG I can tell you that SG is very clean but that’s becos we hv an army of cleaners cleaning up after us. In the aftermath of a major celebration you can see lots of litter on the ground. H/e in a matter of hours, it’d be gone. It’s also true that cleanliness std has gone down due to the influx of FT from less developed countries.

      16. “By the way I think the Indians out of India is more smelly than the ones living in India.”

Foreskin catches bacteria and it can start to smell, but it shouldn’t be a big problem, and don’t be afraid to use a little baby oil and smear it on the head and under the skin. If it smell like persimmon then have it check. LOL!

  28. But hey y so sexist, its ok for LF to do it. Y always female have to have so many restrictions when males can do whatever n get away w it. Sooooo unfair that we females need to suffer n guys can be free.

    1. Asian society is male dominated as we all know. My mom and dad always taught me that I cannot do so many things in public but my brothers can just because they are guys, for example, farting, my parents taught me never to do in public or rose I will give others a bad impression of me.

      1. @HeTieShou

I think your parents are cool. I teach my two sons and my daughter not to go around farting in public. However, if one slips out, I told them to mind their manners and apologize to those around them. Your comment is very cute and funny.

      2. Yes, do think she should have used a tissue if she was going to pick her nose in public, and then wash her hands

My pet peeve is not Michelle’s nose picking, but the media harping about how she has lost some of her amor of perfection. I also find it so asinine that netizens are crucifying her for doing something that is a common habit we all do, and condemning her for it. They are behaving like celebs do not pick their noses at all, that they should be above that, especially in public.

      3. @trini,
Thanks and my parents are great people but are too traditional. They grew up in a male dominated and traditional society where men can do many things such as fart in public but women cannot. I can tell you that I burp a lot because I cannot control it at times, however, I always say excuse me.

    2. Cookie, I don’t think it’s sexist. If that picture was a guy it would still be gross. However a woman doing it is worse because females generally take more care of ourselves. It’s not like women are forced to be cleaner, but naturally we are more inclined to than men.

  29. someone at my work got fired because he picked his nose and wiped it under his desk.

    1. It’s implicit that “hygiene” and “maturity” are usually in a “Westernized” company’s code of conduct. Little “seemingly” insignificant habits make a difference in people’s perception of a person (just like for Michelle Ye).

  30. Next time do it privately with a Kleenex, that pic is gross!

  31. Yes, everybody does it but I doubt everyone does it in public?
I mean come on you are a public figure and you are doing that openly? NOT cool hahah LOL…Wow
But I have seen ladies going to the bathroom and NEVER wash her hands.
In my old job, next door neighbor I have realized every single time whether she is doing big or small business, she never wash her hands afterwards. While I am still in there doing my business, I can hear her walking out w/o the water sound so our whole office eventually noticed that about her. So gross and she looks decent enough. She claims to be a pet owner, have a husband haha LOL… I don’t know WTH her parents taught while growing up but that is certainly WHAT mine or teachers taught me. haha LOL…so gross, wash your hands often whether or not you are doing anything, that’s like a simple protocol so everyone we see her, we don’t how to feel. Just gross. I mean, we all pick our noises and such but at least do it in a discreet way. That is embarrassing whether or NOT you are a public figure, male or female.

  32. You guys think this is gross? I once saw a Caucasian guy actually eat his bugger. Now that is gross.

    1. Caucasian people, adults and children do eat their buggers. Not all of them, but I have seen it so many times. They practically snack on the buggers, yuuuck!!!.

    2. It is like fertilizer to grass ………helps them grow big hahaha

  33. She’s gross! Unless she’s rehearsing her character. anyways, don’t find her goodlooking & now with the double eyelids surgery…her face looks weird. someone should get her a box of Kleenex for her birthday. And her nose should charge her fingers for harassment

  34. wow>>>>> that lis just so gross Michelle ye wouldn’t
do this kind of thing before………since when she was in tvb filming tv shows she wouldn’t do that but maybe she thought no-one would realise that so she just picking her nose>>>>>

  35. At least her noise is natural. I wonder if those that have had a nose job can still pick their nose? Hmm…

  36. Wow, I can find so many hygiene moral gods here. They are making everyone else in the world whoever dare to nose picking, fart, use hand to clean teeth, no tissue, etc. are the sinners. Bravo to them all. However who know if they are nose picking, fart, use hand to clean teeth, no tissue, etc. behind the laptop screen. Well, that is how the word keyboard warrior works.

    1. It is true. Try to avoid using public computers. I always stay away from using public computers, even on cruise ships.

    2. Farting is uncontrollable, but if u r a gassy person then take some antacids. Other bad habits like picking your nose or your teeth w your finger r deffinitely avoidable. It’s the matter of manner n how u were raised. I don’t pick my nose, ears or my teeth in public or even behind my laptop. And, I’m teaching my young kids the same.

      1. Agree, especially in North American societies. We should NOT even talk when we eat. I find most Asian people do, talking with their mouths full of food.

      2. Well, we all don’t know what other people here really do in real life. It means we all don’t know that all the people who are talking about manner and hygiene here really have that good manner or hygiene or not.

In fact, those bad habits do not define the personality of anyone or make them baddie. So, be relax.

      3. Well, we all don’t know what other people here really do in real life. It means we all don’t know that all the people who are talking about manner and hygiene here really have that good manner or hygiene or not. Attention seeking or what. LOL!

In fact, those bad habits do define the personality of someone and over time it makes them a baddie. So, relax. LOL!

      4. “Farting is uncontrollable, but if u r a gassy person then take some antacids. Other bad habits like picking your nose or your teeth w your finger r deffinitely avoidable. It’s the matter of manner n how u were raised. I don’t pick my nose, ears or my teeth in public or even behind my laptop. And, I’m teaching my young kids the same.”

        Agreed!

      5. @Kiwi: We all know that even without farting and nose picking, you are already a troll. It is hard to take you serious, LOLz.

  37. Let’s give her the benefit of the doubt here. Hey maybe it was just a itch inside her nose and she just scratch it, too itchy to wait n get a tissue, lol.

  38. raphael nadal picks his butt all the time during tennis games.

  39. Picking your nose in public and touching other without washing your hand afterwards is gross whether you’re a normal citizen or celeb. So what Michelle Yip did was gross, full stop.

    1. Absolutely agree. They are manners whether you’re a normal citizen or a celebrity.

    2. Totally agree!!!

And, if you’re a celebrity (like LF and MY), picking your nose in public gets media coverage. haha 🙂

LF picking his nose/挖鼻屎 at the lunch/dinner table full of food while others eat…
