“Short End of the Stick” Cast Watches Premiere At Wayne Lai’s House
Wayne Lai (黎耀祥) invited his Short End of the Stick <公公出宮> costars over to his house to watch the premiere episode on February 9, 2016. Those who went to Wayne’s dinner party included John Chiang (姜大偉), Nancy Wu (胡定欣), Edwin Siu (蕭正楠), Raymond Cho (曹永廉), Power Chan (陳國邦), and Power’s three-year-old daughter, Jan.
Short End of the Stick tells the comedic story of four expelled palace eunuchs who struggle to make ends meet in the “real world.” They are sold as servants to the matriarchal Kam family, and get tangled in their family affairs.
Wayne said last week that he would invite the cast over to his home to support the series premiere when he promoted the show in Tseung Kwan O. Because it’s airing over the Lunar New Year holiday week, low premiere viewership ratings are expected for Short End of the Stick. However, Wayne said he is not worried about the dip in ratings, and joked that he would quit showbiz if the show fails to achieve 20 rating points.
TVB’s other new comedy drama, the cop series K9 Cop <警犬巴打>, also premiered on February 9, and aired after Short End of the Stick. K9 Cop stars Bosco Wong (黃宗澤), Linda Chung (鍾嘉欣), Raymond Wong (黃浩然), and Tracy Chu (朱千雪).

I’ve already watched both of the series and loving it finally a good start to cny thank goodness these 2 series don’t have sisley n Grace for once!!
It’s great to see the veterans holding it down! It’s so refreshing to see cast members watching the premiere together. I think the storyline and back up with veterans is a win-win, there’s no way Wayne (especially paired with Nancy) won’t be able to pull viewership!
I watched the first episode and it was an eventful one. Reminded me very much of The Confidant with only Raymond Wong missing in the five tigers cast (don’t worry he’s in the other series). Wayne, Power and Raymond are so far great in these respective roles.
Hopefully this series keeps its greatness for the rest of the broadcast.
@anthony I’m glad that Raymond Wong isn’t in this one. He’s the most unconvincing eunuch ever. It was his worst portrayal and performance to date.
@ Other fans and such: Yes, this is an opinion of mine. So don’t waste your breath for flaming. Guess what, I do like him as an actor and most of his series.

@jjwong Wayne and Power are good and I think many pales in comparison to them
@anon I like RW in specific character, i.e. Karma Rider, Bottled Passion and Swipe Tape Love. His emotion scenes are touching. The eunuch role and the one in The Overachiever could had branch him out where he can show off his acting chop. I fell flat for me.
@conan2209 I agree about Wayne and Power. They’re more versatile and can be more convincing in different roles.
Both series is ok, heaps better than what TVB have dished out since November.
K9 Cop seems better though, Short Stick just has lame jokes thrown in, but I think it will improve..
Caught the first ep online and it was rather funny in the beginning. However too much of seeing those 3 guys acting in sissy-fied manner soon made me lose my interest especially Raymond Cho’s character who tended to overact. Power and Wayne were the saving graces but then i will definitely lose all interest if they keep acting like a bunch of sissies. Edwin’s character is rather intriguing- is he or isnt he a eunuch? Will stay tuned but hopefully won’t give it up halfway when the jokes fall stale and flat just like what happened to GOR.
What a coincidence, both Wayne and Power were in Leon Lai’s famous dramas in the 90 as his “leng”, and now both of them have come so far. They have so much in common. Although I still like them very much now, I do miss the young and little punk light hearted Wayne Lai and Power Chan.
@kaykay408 If you had known them since their early days in TVB, you will know that it is no coincidence as they came out together and had similar roles in similar phases of their career. In fact our whole family often mistook one for the other back then. It was not until Rosy Business that Wayne managed to pull out the gap; even tho I still think Power is much more versatile and convincing in his roles.
@elayne I see. Yeah I was a little kid when they came out so didn’t know much. However in my memory they had very similar roles and I like both of them in those dramas but can’t remember name.
I watched the first two episodes and really enjoyed, looking good so far.
