Stephen Huynh to Hold Wedding in France in 2012

TVB artist, Stephen Huynh (黃長興) successfully proposed to his girlfriend of three years, Peggy.  The couple intends to get married in August or September 2012.  Since Stephen grew up in France, he frankly said that he did not want to get married in Hong Kong and wished to hold the wedding at a castle in France instead!

The reporter called Stephen to send him congratulations. Stephen laughed and said that he did not meet with Peggy and his parents to discuss the wedding details yet. Stephen has invited good friends, Benjamin Yuen (袁偉豪), Edwin Siu (蕭正楠), and Vincent Wong (王浩信) to be the groomsmen at his wedding. Stephen he said, “They will pay for their own airfare while I will cover the room and board. The men said that they will treat it as if it were vacation!”

Jayne: Stephen’s decision to get married at a relatively young age may be due to his intention to slowly fade away from acting and focus more on his French restaurant in Hong Kong, in which his girlfriend, Peggy, is helping him manage the operations.

A French castle sounds like beautiful grounds to get married at!

    Stingy. Haha. Should pay for the plane tickets too.

    Interesting that he’s good friends with Edwin Siu. When have they collaborated? I remember they were both in CBML. But, they did not have scenes together if I remember correctly.

    1. Maybe they met elsewhere instead??? There are many that collaborate a lot but don’t become friends at all while there are others that have never collaborated in any series end up being the closest of friends. It just varies…

  2. Congrats to them! WOW, it seems like everyone wants to get married or something. I guess it is better for Stephen Huynh to focus on business instead because he did not seem to be that successful or interested in staying or being in the circle. Good luck to him and glad that he is sharing his good news with everyone.

    1. “Congrats to them! WOW, it seems like everyone wants to get married or something.”

      Hahaha ~ maybe because the last three posts on JayneStars has been about celebrity weddings. 😀

  3. I think Stephen might continue to act with TVB for interest sake. Some people do that. If his acting work is not very time consuming, he can do both.

    It’s good that Stephen can change course according to situation. I remember when he first started out in acting, he said he hope to make acting his lifetime career and he gave himself 5 years to see. I guess he has look back to these 5 years and see that he might not have big progress in this line, so, he open a restaurant instead. Cooking is another one of his passion. So, he’s still doing something he likes.

    Seeing that he planned to marry next year, his restaurant must be doing quite well. Stephen is quite a traditional man. So, if he doesn’t have enough money to support a family, he wouldn’t have planned the marriage.

  4. Always wondered is Stephen mixed with Viet or something? His surname isn’t Chinese, is it?

    1. He’s chinese, but, his grandfather changed his surname to Huynh when he moved to Vietnam.

    2. He is Chinese Vietnamese in a sense… Huynh is the south Vietnamese way of spelling Wong.

      1. What is Nguyen a translation of?

        Le = Lee/Li
        Tran = Chan/Chen
        Huynh = Wong/Huang

        any one know? Been wanting to know for awhile ..

      2. @ HeTieShou – Nguyen is Yuan 袁 (sometimes known as Yuen from Cantonese translation)

      3. Well, a lot more than Korean surnames, that’s for sure!

      4. @Lily,
        No, Nguyen is not Yuan 袁. THat is translated as “Vien”. Nguyen if you are talking about the common last name is Ruan阮.

      5. @Pandamao,
        Nguyen if you are talking about the common last name is Ruan(in Mandarin pin yin) and is 阮 character in Chinese.

        Le is Lai黎 in Cantonese and Li in Mandarin.

        Tran is陳 and Huynh or Hoang(as the people in the north spell it) is黃.

    3. I think he is 1/3 Chinese, 1/3 Viet, and 1/3 French…I could be wrong. Anyway, congratulations to Stephen! Sounds like it’ll be a beautiful and unique wedding. 🙂

      1. I don’t think he has any French blood. His family immigrated to France when he was 5 years old. He was born in HK.

    1. I think they did. I remember him gushing that mandy is a nice girl.
      But now she married her rich guy and he has a smart fiancee. Happy ending for everyone.

      I hope Stephen doesn’t quit show biz. He is quite handsome but just needs to work on his acting skills and charisma. I can picture him going the Michael tse route in terms of roles.

  5. Stephen has a charismatic face but unfortunately his acting lacks depth.

    I get the feeling that acting was an ‘incidental’ task, something that he needed to do as part of winning the Mr HK title, and was never/doens’t seem to be passionate about it. Hence owning a French restaurant makes sense for him, as a fallback plan or his main life interest. The food industry isn’t easy though, so let’s hope his business skills are savvy.

    Btw, I think his fiancee’s looks are fairly ordinary.

    1. No, he did not need to join TVB because of Mr.HK. It’s his own choice.

      – He didn’t win Mr.HK. He was only final 4
      – After winning can reject the prize like what Michael Tsu did.
      – In an interview with RTHK, he said after the contest, he went home and TVB called him, offering him a contract. They enticed him by saying the role they offer him will be acting opposite Sonija Kwok (Land of Wealth):P. He decided to sign up because he grew up watching TVB series (and the chance to work in Sonija Kwok?) and would like to try.

  6. Hi Everyone, especially Kidd, i am impressed you seems to know me well… I will not leave to TV industry eventhough i set 5 years when in got into this industry, to suceed in others fields, your hardwork and a pinch of smartness will lead you to success but in the entertainment industry its different, you need more than that, luck relationship etc… Anyways to Josie, i wont quit show biz, until i achieve something, i like challenges. It was nice sharing with you, something that i seldom do but here its easier coz we can read and write in english.

    1. Are you really Stephen Huynh? If yes, welcome to the site. 😀

      Glad you drop by and congratulations on you successful marriage proposal. 😀

      I got most of the info from your interview in with Anna Yau in Eve Maria (RTHK program) early in your career. I rooted for you during the MR.HK Competition and has been following your career ever since. Can say I’m a fan. Haha.

      1. If that really is Stephen posting, I’m glad we didn’t say anything too negative. 🙂

        Imagine if tavia visited the site, she would be surprised how much attention we pay to her nose.

      2. Josie,

        I think TY is only busy on weibo since Chinese is her major/mother tongue/dialect…

        Fala, Linda, Myolie might have higher chances visiting Jayne’s site and reading our posts.

    2. @Cheung Hing,
      Thanks in informing us that you intend to stay in the entertainment industry and leaving a message with us. Acting is indeed a lot of hard work. It is good to know that you have found the love of your life and decided not to postpone marriage while continuing to work hard in your career.

      JayneStars is honored that you decided to stop by and leave a greeting for all our visitors! 🙂
