Yoyo Mung Hints She Will Not Renew Contract With TVB

Portraying a villain in TVB’s series, Links to Temptation <誘情轉駁>,Yoyo Mung Ka Wai received several phone calls [from friends] praising her acting. “They said my acting portrayed the horrifying nature of the cold-blooded character. I have a great sense of satisfaction.”

Did Yoyo’s boyfriend, Ekin Cheng, watch her performance in Links to Temptation? “He called yesterday and said he was watching the series. He said I acted quite well.”  Audience’s preferences are changing and although portraying a villain character, many people enjoyed her performance.

Appearing at a Kiehl’s promotional event, Yoyo said, “In an earlier tabloid, a reporter said that I was aging prematurely. Many cosmetics companies called to ask me to try their products.”

Will Yoyo be renewing her contract with TVB? Yoyo answered discretely, “We are just altering the way we work together. There are still opportunities to work together.”

Jayne: Yoyo Mung’s most successful onscreen partnerships were probably with Bobby Au Yeung, as he tends to bring out the uninhibited side of her tomboyish traits. Earlier, Yoyo profited millions (HKD) from the sale of her property.  Since dating Ekin, she seems to be happier.

  1. It looks like she is done with TVB. It seems TVB is not promoting her unless she is married Ekin very soon and that could change.

  2. it’s time for TVB to realize that overworking your employees and paying them meager salary aren’t going to bring recognition like in the past. Eventually, TVB going to fall and fade into obscurity. You better wake up and smell the coffee. Veteran actors are fleeting your reign of terror and the sooner you acknowledge so, the better you understand that this isn’t 1990 anymore! Either adapt or die a slow death!

  3. TVB has been going downhill for many years already so it is not like it is something new. TVB really needs to treat their employees better. I actually think that they are treated better and paid better than they were in the 80s. I heard the pay in the 80s was really low and they made them work even harder back then. I think most artists just sign with TVB in order to gain some fame and recognition, not really for the money since they don’t get much. Once they get some recognition(if they do get it), then they will move on to bigger and better things. That seems to be the way it is for Yoyo Mung….

    1. I don’t see Yoyo is moving on for bigger things, just better (pay only). She’s not a very versatile actress.

She’s not someone I will miss.

  4. It seems as though Yoyo is really slowing down her career on screen since her mother’s death… I think Yoyo is at the stage of enjoying life and working is just a hobby for her… I think Yoyo is only doing per series contracts now… Good Luck To Her!!

    1. THat is so sad to hear that she lost her mom. No wonder she doesn’t seem as passionate about acting as before(from what I feel anyways). That is understandable since losing a parent hurts a lot…

  5. I like Yoyo and I feel as her acting as progressively improved over the years. It’s really a shame that TVB insists on over promoting a lot of newbies but neglects some of their veteran actors.

  6. I won’t miss Yoyo either. Her acting isn’t outstanding and phenomenal. I can get why TVB isn’t promoting her, she lacks screen presence and even though she has improved over the years, in her latest series Links to Temptation she still has the stiffness. Her acting is far below that of Jessica, Maggie Cheung or Ada Choi.

    1. word to that.

I had high hopes on her when I first saw her in Green Hope. She’s definitely very pretty. I love her look.

      Wish her the best!

      1. I’ve actually seen Yoyo in person some 3-4 years ago. She was very pretty and fresh-looking dressed in a yellow sundress. I think she looks better in person than on screen.

    2. At least her acting is far better than Charmaine but somehow I keep seeing her series come out. Hate TVB for that. Always love her in the Forensic series.

    3. at least each of screen presence is more better than Fala Chan. I cannot believe TVB paired her with Steven. They have no chemistry what so ever. She only good to be acting as his sister and I still find she still lacking something.

I still like the series but I find it so bore whenever Fala screen presence.

Yoyo is acting even far better than Charmaine in my opinion.

  7. Definitely agree with Fala having no screen presence. I don’t think she handles lead roles well, I liked her more in supporting or “calefe” roles! lol

I think Yoyo Mung is pretty – I like her eyebrows~ She could do with a bit more improvement in her speaking and acting but I would watch her any day as the lead in a series over Fala or Charmaine!

  8. I don’t mind, it’s not a lost. She’ll probably be one of those off contact actress, like Sheren Tang in her earlier years

  9. Yoyo’s trying working less, and spend more time with Ekin. She’s happy and enjoying her life right now. What she’s interested in right now is to be a great cook. She will comeback in may and shooting TVB’s new series.
