Joey Meng Defends Johnson Lee’s Work Ethics

Although Joey Meng (萬綺雯) missed out on the chance to collaborate with Bobby Au Yeung (歐陽震華), she developed good rapport with her new leading man Johnson Lee (李思捷) on the set of their upcoming comedy Ox Head Loves Horse Mouth <牛頭愛搭馬嘴>.

Johnson, who the media often portrays in a negative light, was recently under fire once again for demanding changes to the final shooting script. He denied these accusations at the series’ blessing ceremony on December 24, and emphasized that he deeply respects the crew’s work. Joey also came to his aid, assuring that everyone on the team maintains a positive work relationship. She finds the rumors improbable, pointing out that Johnson’s lines are full of complex Feng Shui concepts and terminology.

Getting her start at ATV, Joey spent nearly two decades as one of the station’s top artists. After leaving in 2008, she appeared in several RTHK series and dabbled in theater productions. She was successfully recruited by TVB in 2012. With her good looks and established status, she was immediately given leading roles in mainstream dramas.

After the success of her first TVB effort Inbound Troubles <老表,你好嘢!>, Joey sees a steady stream of work that will keep her busy throughout this holiday season. Although she traditionally spends Christmas with her husband, screenwriter Chan Sap Sam (陳十三), Joey must forego the celebrations this year so that Ox Head Loves Horse Mouth will stay on schedule.

Married for thirteen years, the happy couple has learned to respect each others’ careers and are not too disappointed by the changes to their holiday plans. Joey hopes to make it up to her husband at a later time with a trip to Hokkaido and joked that she will sweeten the deal by wrapping herself up as his Christmas gift.

  1. I am not hopeful about this series because I just don’t see Johnson Li as a suitable successor to the magic Bobby can weave.

  2. Joey looks extremely tired in that picture although her smile is still bright. Hopefully, work won’t burn her out.

  3. I feel bad for Joey having to pair with a leftover non-lead actor…Johnson. All that work…

  4. i am not excited at all that Joey is paired up with Johnson…almost feel so sorry for her that she got “stuck” with him since Bobby couldn’t film it..never really liked Johnson, find him too arrogant

    1. agree. i feel like all that fame got to his head. no longer a fan.

bobby and joey would have been such an awesome pairing!!

    2. Hated him ever since he cheated on Lukian and denied it even after it was captured on camera.

  5. johnson lee is a miscast as lead actor,he is not funny, not handsome, arogant,a womanizer, bad acting skill, and think he is dayo wong.haha.

  6. Johnson Lee – bad manners, cheating boyfriend, playboy, arrogant half baked entertainer, uncharismatic actor, unfunny comedian. Joey Meng is unlucky that Bobby pulled out.

  7. I was so excited and looking forward to see this series of Bobby and Joey, but now so disappointed that Bobby no longer in the series. But even Bobby Couldn’t film this series, why did TVB replaces this jerk Johnson Lee in the first. He is ugly and his acting is just simply suck in every way. TVB has lots more better actors than going for this jerk.

  8. I don’t see how this Johnson can be a leading comedy actor. He is hopeless and utterly annoying in every series.

    He is just obnoxious.

  9. Johnson is arrogant and a cheater but at least the guy doesn’t hide his real personality pretending to be a nice guy right? I’ll give this series a chance just because I like Joey Meng as long as the storyline is decent.
