Regardless of which entertainment industry you end up following, plastic surgery will always be one of the most common gossips to talk about. Although cosmetics enhancements are not as looked down upon as it was once before, many celebrities today still avoid to talk about it.

But there are quite a few celebrities in the Asian entertainment industry who have boldly admitted to getting their faces “enhanced.” They proudly explained that their reason for going under the knife was because they wanted to be more beautiful and confident.

Zheng Shuang (郑爽)

The boldest and most honest of them all is 24-year-old Chinese actress Zheng Shuang, who made her grand debut in the 2009 idol drama Meteor Shower <一起來看流星雨>, one of the many adaptations of the popular Japanese manga Hana Yori Dango. Elva Hsiao (蕭亞軒)

When Mandopop diva Elva Hsiao first debuted, her single eyelids was her trademark. She said at the time that even women with monolids can be sexy and beautiful. But Elva’s opinion on her eyes went into a 180 degrees change when she decided to get double eyelids. Elva said she did not want to wear double eyelid tape all the time, as they were damaging her eyes and skin. However, blepharoplasty has become a very common procedure to correct defects and disfiguration on the eyes, and is hardly considered as a major plastic transformation.

Rollin Wang (王蓉)

Her 2004 single “I Am Not Wang Rong” <我不是黃蓉> pushed Rollin Wang into a household name in Mainland China. But after the release of her 2007 studio album Double <加倍>, Rollin disappeared into thin air. She made her grand return two years later, donning much sharp features. Rollin admitted to getting plastic surgery. She said she wanted to start anew, and have everyone see a more beautiful side of herself.

CoCo Lee (李玟)

Rumors say that pop diva CoCo Lee got quite addicted to plastic surgery, and that every inch of her body had received enhancements. CoCo was weary of hearing such gossip. To end it all, she stated, “I don’t like hearing people say that I got my butt, chest, and chin done. I only got one thing done—my eyes!”

Lee Da Hae (李多海)

Korean actress Lee Da Hae made her debut in the Korean entertainment industry after winning the Miss Chunhyang Pageant in 2001. After struggling in supporting roles for a few years, Da Hae finally broke out in the 2005 romantic comedy My Girl, starring opposite Lee Dong Wook (李棟旭) and Lee Joon Gi (李準基). Through My Girl, people noticed that Da Hae no longer had a flat nose and single eyelids like when she first debuted.

In a talk show a few years ago, Da Hae admitted, “I used to be a fat girl. I worked hard to lose weight and also did some ‘remodeling’ to my face.” The host looked shocked, and immediately said, “I thought you didn’t get any plastic surgery!” Upon hearing this, Da Hae laughed, “Fantastic! Please continue to think like that!”

Soon after giving birth to her son, Taiwanese goddess Patty Hou was spotted visiting a cosmetic surgery clinic. Patty admitted in a later interview that she went to get some minor touch-ups so she could look more beautiful.

Plastic surgery is extremely common in the Korean entertainment circle. Many K-pop idols usually avoid this topic, but K-pop queen Lee Hyori had always been very honest whenever questions about her cosmetic procedures came up. The 36-year-old opened up about her experience with botox injections in a talk show a few years ago. She said she got injections once to remove her wrinkles, but decided to not get them anymore as it was hard for her to smile with her eyes. However, as botox injections are a non-surgical cosmetic enhancement procedure, many people do not consider it as plastic surgery.

Irene Wan (溫碧霞)

Hong Kong actress Irene Wan did not attempt to hide anything when she was asked about getting cosmetic enhancements. The 49-year-old said she had a few injections, adding that many women chase for beauty, and getting cosmetic injections have become very common in recent years.

  3. Daaaang, majority of these girls look so similar after PS. They’ve lost the individuality in their face … it’s like a line of barbie dolls. Eek! Some was already looking cute bf PS. Kudos to them to be able to endure pain and take their career in their own hands and own up to it. It is what it is.

  4. I personally think Zheng Shuang looked way better before her plastic surgery. But at least, she does it with pride i guess.
