After ten years together, Hong Kong actor Matt Yeung (楊明), 45, and his longtime girlfriend Lisa Chung (莊思明), 39 — the daughter of a Malaysian Datuk — are finally getting married. Their wedding news was revealed on June 5, marking a touching new chapter in a relationship that has weathered many highs and lows.

Recounting The Couple’s Highs & Lows

The couple began dating in early 2016 and went public with their relationship that May. Not long after, Matt was involved in a serious accident while filming TVB drama Mind Hunter <心理追兇 Mind Hunter>, suffering a severe leg injury that required more than ten stitches. Lisa stayed by his side, caring for him around the clock and helping clean his wound every day. Matt later said that difficult period made him realize she was “the woman he wanted to spend his life with”.

Over the years, the pair continued to support each other through public pressure, business setbacks and personal challenges. When Matt’s restaurant business was badly affected during the 2019 social movement, Lisa quietly stood by him. In 2020, when Lisa faced controversy after posting about an airline incident online, Matt publicly defended her without hesitation.

Matt later went through a lengthy legal battle and appeal process. Throughout every court appearance, Lisa was there beside him, often seen holding his hand. After his appeal was dismissed on December 22, 2022, he was sentenced to 18 days in jail.
