Adrian Wong Reveals Money Was Reason Behind Family Conflict
Although she has been fielding questions about her father Felix Wong’s (黃日華) estranged relationship with her ailing grandfather, Adrian Wong (黃芷晴) is in no position to meddle in her elders’ affairs, and feels completely helpless as her family drama unfolds before the public eye.
In addition to working on her own acting career, Adrian has been serving as the family spokesperson in recent months. When Felix was accused of not visiting his 84-year-old father in the hospital, she was the first to speak up on her family’s behalf, and has since been interviewed about her elders’ issues more so than her own.
Pressed for responses over a family conflict outside of her control, Adrian feels rather helpless and hopes that her family can come to a conclusion away from the public. “I feel super helpless! As one of the younger members of my family, I should not participate in the conflict. However I have already shared everything that I know. We just want to handle family matters in a low-key manner.”
Adrian further expressed that her family shares a long, complex history, and that money is definitely a factor in play. While she had considered visiting her grandfather on her own, his current wife has unfortunately made the attempt challenging. “Ms. Lau always criticized us for not visiting grandfather. I contacted her through my cousin on the 28th to set up a visit, but Ms. Lau cursed at my cousin. We do want to, and plan to visit him, but given her attitude, I don’t know how to handle this matter at all.”
She also questioned Ms. Lau’s decision to discuss the issues with reporters, and is worried that the public attention may affect her grandfather’s recovery progress.

So Felix’s hardcore fan accusation of POSSIBILITIES that the old sick father was a terrible dad, he push Felix’s mom to her death, he is wife beater, he is a terrible gambler. === All those posibility now is unlikely since Adrian admit in her own words that “money is definately a factor”
Felix’s dad physical violents and treats Felix and 4 siblings terrible === Unlikely, due to Adrian (Felix daughter) in the previous article said that her relationship was close to her grandpa until Ms. Lau come along. Given that, if Felix dad was so violent to the family, why would Felix let his precious daughter be close to her grandpa, again until Ms. Lau come along that when it tears apart. Adrian also said that if Ms. Lau didn’t enter their life, things won’t change. === Most likely it all the stepmom, Ms. Lau fault, that cause the conflict.
Felix’s dad was terrible gambler, used up all family money, push Felix’s mom to her death. === Unlikely, because due to Felix in the entertainment industry for 30+ years, if such things like terrible gambler father, it would be all over the news already. Given Felix is more famous than Ada, if tabloids can dig up Ada’s gambling mom, they would definately not let Felix’s dad get away if he was like that. Tabloids write to make money, it their job.
So from all the articles so far, it seem like the stepmom is the drama queen eh, could be the main cause of their relationship with the dad (Adrian’s grandpa) deteriorated.
If I was Adrian or Felix, I wouldn’t be worried about the drama queen stepmom. I would just tell it directly to her face that I have no interest talking to her, and request to talk to to the old sick dad.
If ones insist to visit their sick old dad in the hospital. According to HK laws, you can specificly request to see the dad alone, without the stepmom. The nurse/doctor will politely request the stepmom step out for a momment, while you have your personal talks with the patient.
And ofcourse Felix not require to see anyone if he doesn’t want to. This is a comment saying it from a different angle “IF”

with her is fun as society is multi faceted so life wont be boring… felix is too harsh on his father.. i hope adrian will start reconciliation for the 2 parties as both also do not want to give in… at least she makes a starting point by trying to contact that side.. hope they can eventually get back together…of course financial is the cause of it..

Is fine, I have nothing to be ashame of in my comments. Everything is written in Jaynestars is still there, can’t be delete or edit.
As I have debate with them in the previous article, and they use “personal attacks” on my son, husband, family and make fun at my English. Which is fine, I won’t throw anything at them, unless they start throwing it at me first.
The way Felix handles things dissapointed me. But doesn’t matter, he still a great actor.
Few days ago I rewatch the TVB drama 馬場大亨 Ma Cheung Dai Hung, that the Cantonese title. Felix is great in it, those who from the younger generations that have not see Felix 80’s and early 90’s drama., I recommend you watch it. You won’t be dissapointed at his acting.

I think that is why they are having her be the family’s “spoke person” so that she will be more recognized. I am finding her to be a hypocrit. In a previous interview she was saying how there are reasons why none of the other relatives visit him, including her and her father. So now she “wants” to visit him after refusing so many years. Seems its all for show.

Same to when Felix realized HKTV have no hope of getting their license, he ran back to kiss TVB, and bash HKTV.
He doing that no doubt partly because Adrian, he wants to secure her a position in TVB.
Despite once being in TVB blacklist due to he first started to bad mouth TVB when he left for HKTV, yet he still ran back to TVB to helps promote his daughter.

I had a very strong feeling that the conflict of course involved money and Felix’s stepmother. Maybe my hunch was right??? If so, then I don’t think they should allow Ms.Lau to get in the way of their relationship. What right does she have?? I personally would never allow anyone like that to get in the way of my family’s relations. It is just not worth it.

I think so. Her name is not recognized by most people including Virginia Lok, but surely is recognized by Virginia now. Perhaps she will be recruited by TVB soon.
I find it a bit odd how she and her father was so supportive of HKTV until they had no license. But now their ship does not seem to be secure so they now want to jump ship to TVB?? I wonder how they will treat her if she does get recruited to TVB??

Good suggestion. Just a simple statement saying that she will support her dad no matter what her dad decides to do.
Yea, she should just say no comment. But it truly appears that she wants to use this entire situation to her advantage.
Her father must be really proud of his daughter. Being the spokesperson for her family, she’s learnt fast on how to snap up opportunities with the media for publicity. She will survive in the industry for sure with her reveal-all-mouth in conjunction with her ‘low key manner’. lol.
You’re forgetting being an actress is all new and fun to her. She will do what she thinks is right like her dad to make her mark in the entertainment industry. She has no worries because her dad is Felix Wong. A taste of sweet is all good, sour, bitter and spice has yet to come.
Money is the cost of most problems for everyone. How much we value ourselves? Money is important but where it stands on our most importance. How were we brought up? Were we taught with sense of right and wrong? A solid foundation will stand the test of time. Felix being best friend with Andy Lau all these times and didn’t pick up anything from Andy is unwise. Felix unable to learn from family values you can always learn from surroundings.

Andy is busy man, having movies, concerts, etc. But he always to make sure to set aside time for his parents.
Doesn’t matter how busy he is, he still find time to company his old parents.
This show that he value his parents more than the money that he could have make IF he didn’t take that time off to be with them.
If Felix’s dad didn’t mistreat or abuse him. If the issues are just MONEY and the drama queen stepmom. Then Felix is too tough on his father.
Cant compare Andy & Felix, they have different personality and grew up in a different family environment. But the most important is they have different relationship with their parents.
Felix doesnt make time because he doesnt have good relationship with his father. He makes time for the people he consider FAMILY. Before the year 2000, he use to work all the time but after his mother died he changed and reduced his work load and spend more time with his wife and children.
Did anyone watch the interview? Did his daughter actually said that money is a factor. Or the media twisted her words. Did they omit any other info to make Felix looks bad?
I still believe that its more than money for a person to decide to disown their own parents. Money can create problems in the relationship but to not talk or see each other for years is a bit much.
Ming Pao didn’t twisted her words. Ming Pao is a pretty credible news source. They unlikely to make up stuff if she did not said.

And the way Felix handles the HKTV incident were not very smart. When HKTV start out he jump to them since they give him good pay. He open up to public praise HKTV and bash TVB, rumours said this is the reason why he was blacklist by TVB at the time.
After HKTV for sure couldn’t get their license, he left HKTV and ran back to TVB. So during HKTV hopeless he ran, even with his own words that he promise to stood by HKTV side and continue support them. Yah rite! He goes back on his words.
We all know he needs jobs, promote his daughter to TVB. But he shouldn’t bash HKTV after he know they for sure cannot get their license.

From the feeling that I get from Felix, he seems like a very nice and down to earth guy. However, who is perfect and without flaws??? I think Andy Lau is a good guy too, but then many hate them due to how he tries to hide his wife and all. But he is a filial son while Felix treats his wife well and now seems to neglect his father… Who is perfect??

Felix have dissapointed me many times with the ways he handles things. But I only like actors as they onscreen. What they do offscreen does not have any affect, I like him as long he continues put in great acting.
As for HeTieShou question. I choose Andy, due to his filial to his parents. He has proven take time off work to company his parents, this obviously show the he value his parents more than the money he could have make.
Andy is workaholic, but doesn’t matter how busy he is, he make sure he set time aside for his parents.
As for hiding his wife, it is understandable. Andy overal his an international icon. If he publicly show his wife, he might loose some fans, less fans buy his CD, DVD, etc… Also, could be that his wife doesn’t enjoy to be in the limelight therefore she agrees to be in the shadow.

Adrian should stop talking now. As a filial daughter, I think she should know that she have comments enough on the family conflict. Next time should just say “no comments”. Things will died down if Adrian don’t let them milk, tabloids will have nothing to write about.

I do have my fair of unfilial times when I was younger. Things that my father do, when I was younger I never appreciated. But now being parents, I begin to understand my father more.
Mom/dad don’t live with children forever, there will come the time when they be forever Out of our lives. So as they alive, do you best to treats them. Overall they are parents, not some strangers around the street.

What you said is generally true but I have seen parents who are calculative to their children but they are lucky to have kids that still treat them well. I have a cousin that is SO cheap that it is not funny. He is even cheap on the amount of money he spends on diapers for his son. Once my aunt(his mom) only asked for $200 and he yelled at my aunt saying that he was not made of money and even mocked her. I was so sad and a bit angry when I heard about that. My mom was upset as well and said that when my uncle and aunt pass away, he can give him millions of dollars and it would not matter. The most important thing to treat your parents, siblings or anyone significant in your life well while you can because once they go, you can regret all you want. It will useless and way too late… I have lost my father and dear brother so I know that pain firsthand which is why I always remind others to treat their parents and family or anyone dear in their life well before it is too late and then they will have to live with that regret for the rest of their lives.
Pulease, if its not for her family gossip, who would bother asking reporting news about her? So she definitely has to give out some news just for the additional coverage.
