“Falling in Love with You in Childhood” Comes to a Halt

Starring Samantha Ko (高海寧) and Owen Cheung (張振朗), new TVB drama Falling in Love with You in Childhood <童時愛上你> was only announced in February, but progress came to a sudden halt. As the problem script will see some significant changes, filming will be delayed until June.

It is said that this is because of Eric Tsang’s (曾志偉) arrival at TVB, the changes he implemented may have also affected the drama department. The script was reviewed by TVB management and they had requested a complete overhaul.

Producer Liu Chun Shek (廖晉碩) admitted that filming has indeed been delayed. “There are many reasons. One is that the script can be improved. Two is because of the pandemic. We cannot film at some of the locations until the gathering restrictions have been lifted.”

Despite the script revisions, there will not be changes to Samantha’s character, a rich businesswoman who suffers from an unfortunate accident that leaves her with the cognitive ability of an 8-year-old.  “Portraying a character who has the intelligence of an 8-year-old is very challenging, which is why I requested cast table reads. This way, we are able to give suggestions or point out any problems. I know that Samantha is under a lot of pressure, but that is how acting skills are improved. I am confident in her abilities,” the producer commented.

  1. Poor Owen but people already called it and said the script sounded bad. I hope they make it better.

  2. The basic premise of this story sounds problematic. If this is a romance, how do they properly address the issue of consent when the lead has the mind of a child? Seems like the whole idea should be thrown away.

I agree, the whole premise seems weak. The amnesia trope has been overused in TVB dramas and just makes the plot illogical.

    2. @potatochip Are they recycling again? xD This one sounds like that drama, My Sister of Eternal Flower. Not completely the same, but similar concept.

      1. @mi520 I didn’t see that series so I don’t know how they addressed Charmaine’s IQ deficit and the issue of how much she understands for consent. But you’re right, it sounds very similar.

@Jayne and @bubbles23 I agree that they are trying for an amnesia with a twist. It’s silly.

      2. @potatochip I think that drama with Charmaine are similar to the one with Roger Kwok in it. It’s got two of them. One is called Square Pegs? And the other one called Life Made Simple.

  3. just wondering, can this pair attract viewership?

This sounds like a romance but the guy is not good looking and the gal has no X factor

    1. @conan2209 It’s interesting how Owen can be Bosco’s double and imitate Chilam’s voice but is still unable to shine. No originality..?

  4. I already called this out as a crap series with crap leads, now it got crap script….

If it actually gets filmed, it’s going to be warehoused…
