Raymond Lam’s Friends Warned Him About Mavis Pan’s Integrity
Since the exposure of bed photos with “Little Shu Qi” Mavis Pan Shuangshuang, Raymond Lam Fung admitted that the pair dated for several months. In a Commercial Radio interview, Raymond said he was uncertain in dealing with his emotions in light of the current situation. Although deeply hurt, he did not want to pursue the incident further. He will regard it as promotion for his new Mandarin album, The First Time <第一次>.
Promoting his new Mandarin album in China earlier, Raymond fell ill and his voice was hoarse. He never thought that his past relationship with Mavis would be revealed in such a manner. “I will not take the initiative to discuss my relationship, but will not deny it if it were discovered. I do not know which emotions to use in addressing the situation. Mavis and I dated for several months. About one or two months ago, we broke up. We never discussed formally breaking up, but I think we both understood the feelings and the situation became clear slowly.”
Aside from falling in love with Mavis’ physical appearance, Raymond also liked the fact that she treated her friends very well. “However, we had some communication problems. A woman needs her boyfriend by her side. My work is very busy and stressful. I do not want dating to affect my work performance. I want to concentrate on work.”
In the past, Mavis was frequently afraid to take photos together with Raymond, since they might affect him. Referencing their dating photos together, Raymond explained, “Taking photos together was a normal activity for a dating couple. She was more afraid to take photos than I was. She thought too much about the issue. After we discussed the matter for sometime, she started taking photos. This was a normal thing, but I can not believe the situation turned out like this.” (Was Raymond aware that Mavis took bed photos too?) “I did not know that photos were taken in my sleep. After work, I was exhausted and fell asleep.”
Will Raymond pursue the exposure of the bed photos further [with Mavis]? “Since our break-up, we have not remained in contact. After the photos were revealed, I did not call her either. Although we had some arguments while dating, this is a matter between the two of us and [the bed photos] should not be revealed. I do not understand why she did that. We were dating after all. I still can not accept what happened.”
Raymond was deeply hurt by the bed photos scandal. At one time, he had intended to develop the relationship with Mavis seriously. However, his work schedule did not allow adequate time to maintain the relationship. “I thought about developing the relationship seriously, never thinking it would turn out like this!”
Raymond added, “TVB and Ms. Virginia Lok Yi Ling discussed the matter with me. While I was dating Mavis, my friends told me to pay more careful attention. At the time, I didn’t think there was a problem. However , who knew that something did happen for ‘The First Time?’ Raymond smiled wryly and said that the bed photos incident can be considered as promotion for his Mandarin album, The First Time.

People hurt in love can be driven to extreme and hurtful actions…. The image of a celebrity is priceless and carefully constructed. These ex-flames know that the most hurtful way in getting back is to ruin their images, even if they hurt themselves in the process.
Mavis reminds me of Vicki Dong, who came forward and admitted she had an affair with Frankie Lam. Vicki was upset at Frankie (thinking he was involved with a new love interest) at the time and her intention of coming forward was to expose their relationship to everyone, although it hurt herself in the process as well. Or Bosco Wong’s ex-girlfriend, who claimed he used her money and ate “soft rice.”

There are 2 ways. Either you say no comment and leave it at that or arrange for an interview and reveal ALL there and then move on, not reveal a little bit. He should tell his friends please shut up.

I know the news animation clip released by Apple Daily yesterday was (hilariously) mean, but it does point out the absurdity of this so-called scandal being blown out of proportion.
Until when you guys still discuss about this, this so-called crisis still goes on :P. So before blaming the reporters and LF and Mavis and others why they keep talking, ask yourself why you can’t move on with it and change the topic.

I consider myself a Raymond fan, since I enjoy watching him act and hearing him sing. But I have to say Raymond really surprised me – first with his choice of a girlfriend, and then with the way he handled the break up (which was not to articulate it at all!). It’s always better to have a clean break than to let it drag…
It seems quite clear that Mavis leaked the photos intentionally, whether it’s because of her unhappiness with how she was silently dumped, or simply for her own publicity. I’m inclined to think the latter.
Nevertheless, while this is a big news now, I don’t think it will make a significant dent in Raymond’s image or popularity. The photos, while unexpected, are hardly scandalous. Besides, Raymond has been painted as the victim in this incident, with his manager and colleagues all speaking up for him (this also shows that he is pretty well-liked by his peers). He will survive.
He’s not surviving when the paparazzi chasing him all over Hong Kong.

Sureeee Raymond….a guy will date a girl because ‘she treats her friends well’. Like he observed her for a long time before dating her….yeah, right. If he honestly admitted that he was simply attracted a pretty girl (and her big boobs), period – I’d have more respect for Raymond since it’s such a common thing to have brief flings motivated by mutual lust. Now he just sounds lame by trying too hard to make himself appear like a naive victim who fell deeply for a girl, when it’s starting to look to me more and more like Raymond used her for sex and then dumped her suddenly without telling her, which caused her to take revenge by releasing the photos. However brief your relationship is, it’s important to end the relationship properly and try to be amicable to each other. Otherwise the rejected party will be consumed by resentment. Like Jayne said, people hurt in love can take extreme actions that hurt themselves too. Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned.
Anyway, Raymond will survive this ‘scandal’. It’s not such a big deal that it can hurt his career, since he is already this popular. If he had been a struggling actor yet to make a name for himself, this incident might cause him to be ‘frozen’ by TVB, but Raymond is too important to TVB now and they will back him up all the way.
The way he handle this ‘crisis’ is beyond naive. It is just plain stupid. Just one side of the story, and he keep talking abt it, acting as a poor victim. What kind of a man is he? I have no more respect for him. I have only one word for him, BE A MAN!

I read that part of Rain’s comment. I was actually confused of her true meaning when I read it. She appeared sarcastic in beginning like how she said bought the magazine. But, when she said he’s very ‘cham’ and said he was a good boy when they were dating back then, I actually believe she’s genuine.

@Kidd, Rain has always been somewhat sarcastic over the years about Raymond. At the same time, she would not outright bash him due to his popularity. Anyhow, she definitely doesn’t seem to have overly positive things to say about him.
When Rain said that Raymond was a good boy, she could have meant back then he was, but also allude that he is no longer “good” now. Taken in the content of her overall responses, it doesn’t sound like a genuine compliment of his character.

i think one thing that was honest from him is the length of the relationship, confirmed by several ppl around him, which was only several months, though i also saw like yourself that it was speculated they knew each other before but not proved so i just go with whatever is.
The marriage rumour is not confirmed. Mavis has denied it.
The only info they have is that one picture and Eric Moo saying that the western guy John asked him to compose a song for him to propose to Mavis (which Eric Moo retracted later and said he didn’t actually know who the woman is). Whether the proposal was successful or not, or whether the woman is Mavis or not, we don’t know.
just because Mavis denied it, doesnt mean its not true. i go by the photo. that is much like a family picture of her and the guy John. the song is very likely for her, his arm around her in that picture shows an intimacy between a man and a woman. if she was just a guest, his hand would not over reach across his son to the woman.
Eric Moo retracted because he was likely contacted by Mavis’ agent. she is their selling property and they will look after her. many artists are married but still continue in the business, they just hide it.
i guess if the article and photo are not proof of a relationship, not sure what else is but for the time being, i will the thought that they might not be married after all. for raymond’s sake, as much as i dont like him right now, i hope she is not married also because its a worser crime to bed another’s wife.
I won’t say that there’s no relationship between John and Mavis. From the photos, it’s obvious that their relationship is close. But, I’ll stop at the marriage part. It’s not solely the character’s fault. I’m a sucker for scholarly gentlemanly smart quiet character. But, even I find Kingsley zzzzzzzzzzzzz. Raymond should bear part of the fault. He’s sleepwalking in the series.
He only became good again during the scene where he beg Sai Lei Mui to come back to him and Sai Lei Mui told him how muuuccchhh he hurt her.
Haha, it was one of the funniest scene in the series.

Honestly. I do find that scene very heart-breaking because of the performance. You can feel his shock and sadness when he finally knew how much he has hurt Sai lei Mui. He looks totally dejected and knew that he doesn’t deserve to get her back at that moment.
Now, the last ‘cool pot’ scene. Now, that’s really hilarious.
I didn’t laugh at him but I laughed at “I cut my whist because of you, I want to die because of you etc.” statement of you-know-who. Look at her face and listen to these quotes made me can’t hold my laugh.
I’m biased :P. I think his performance as Kingsley is ok, but the character is too boring and poorly scripted, same as the series (I tried my best but I think I gave it a “watever happening look” for at least half of the series – especially watever scenes with SLM and her family – and focused on an online game). But as for the look, Kingsley is one of the series that he has the best look.
P/S: The second award scene is also funny. It reminds me of TVB award ceremony, hehe.

SLM’s family is better than Kings’ family. Her family is more tolerable and Jazz Lam is funny.
For the award scene. I was thinking, if I were one of the audience sitting down there I would think in my heart ‘Aren’t you supposed to talk about your work and your experiments which you won the award for? Why going way off topic?’ This guy received an award for great achievement in physics and he’s up there talking about his failed love and how that’s way more important than his scientific breakthrough work.
I hate SLM’s family except Jazz and maybe SLM herself is less annoying than her dad. I hate her dad the most in this family. Her dad is not only annoying but also noisy and hypocrisy.
I don’t see King family that bad. They are arrogant, look down on other ppl but at least they are not hypocrisy. They don’t play SLM although they hate her and don’t act like “I’m so immaculate” like SLM’s dad. I’m referring to the charity scene. That Fei Sir says that he doesn’t want to use relationship but when having trouble, he immediately states that Kingsley and SLM have love relationship so King family is close to his family. And then if he doesn’t want his nephew to join the school because of the relationship, why he doesn’t force the boy to quit it? Because this school is famous. Just the same to his daughter-in-law but act elevated. After the charity scene, I quit this family.
In my opinion, I still don’t think Kingsley (as a character) did anything wrong to SLM. SLM herself (as a character) didn’t do enough to save her “deep love” as she said. She has never tried to get close to his family. His family has reasons to hate her and she didn’t try to make them understand her.
Well, in term of making family contradiction, TVB still has to learn a lot from Korean series. They made better quarrels from the families and more pitiful girl (who is mal-treated by the guy’s family). Compare to them, SLM is still very lucky.
For the award ceremony, I said: “Such a series” to this scene. Only can happen in a series.

SLM didn’t do enough to get close to the family? Are we watching the same series? She changed herself so much just to please Kings’ family. So much so that some viewers said she’s insult to women, because she did all the accommodating.
No no no, she didn’t insult women because of the accommodating. She insulted women because she stick by a guy who confesses he has very little respect for her kind of background. Her lack of reaction when her family was insulted. Her over reaction when he dumped her. She had little integrity and self respect.
Anyway award ceremonies can get cheesy, I am not surprised. It shows he is so great at physics but lousy when it comes to personal live. And why did he get an award? For what? Discovering how to hack into a computer? Trace a killer? Do calculus? Why not say he is involved in the project to prove or recreate some real life physics stuff like big bang theory?

She has never came to his house to visit his parents until he took her to the birthday party. Just look at Bowyee, she wanted to get close to him so she went to meet his parents, took his mom to see a famous doctor. SLM never bought even a small gift to his parents. Even the present to his uncle he bought and chose. When he broke up with her, other than crying and crying all days, she didn’t try to get back (as she always said she wanted that). She knew his mom was sent to hospital but never came to visit her. His parents has never played her and even they hated her a lot, they didn’t do any dirty thing to make the girl quit (such as throw money to her face, go to her family and call her family gold digger, hire ppl to badmouth her family, etc.)

It’s also why I said Koreans made better conflict between the guy’s family and the pitiful girl. Look at how the mother of the guy treats the girl in Korean series, you will think SLM is so lucky. In some series, the mother ruined everything the girl have, including pride (such as go to the company and blame her to be a gold digger and stealer). The girl in these series are more pitiful while she did many thing (make soup for his mom but being threw all in front of her eyes, buy some small thing, try to know more about his mom, etc.).
She knew his family was arrogant. It’s so obvious that his family will treat all the girl cruelly, especially a poor girl like her. But her actions also led them to that biased thinking. If she tried to get close to them, I’ll sympathize her. But as she didn’t and always thought of herself as highest, I don’t.
Why I said she thought of herself as the highest? Because of the break-up, she never tried to “heal” it like wat a deeply in love girl often do (go to his family, try to ask for the reason from him, etc. or just like what he did in the end). She only cried and cried. I don’t see any action of her to show that she wanted to heal the relationship.
And her suicide is the top of everything. Lol, she is so strong so she cut her whist to show how much she loved him? She is not only childish but also stupid. A small cut on whist won’t kill you. If you really want to suicide, cut at least 3.

raymond is playing the sensitivity card so he can say that it was the reason he broke up with her. he throws alot of excuses out there, different every time in each interview as to why it didnt work, first she was too sexy, then here we see him saying he couldn’t handle his emotions(a 30-31 yr old man still not developed/mature in this aspect? i doubt it), he’s portraying a “devoted loverboy” in this story but concludes it fast with only interested in work, which sums his get-togethers as a side, maybe just a physical need, doesnt have to invole emotional attachment, therefore no lasting tangible relationship. he got irritated with the girl fast when she wanted more/got clingy.
