Raymond Lam Released from Hospital for Spinal Injury

Earlier, Raymond Lam Fung experienced a sharp pain in his spine. Doctors found that one of Raymond’s vertebrae had shifted, pressing down on his spinal nerves. Raymond was discharged from the hospital the day before. Physical therapy was prescribed, but adequate rest was critical during the recovery process.
When the physical therapist re-aligned his vertebrae, Raymond suddenly saw black spots in his eyes. The pain was so intense that he nearly fainted. It has been ten years since Raymond last entered the hospital. “Earlier, I was filming a motorcycle scene. Perhaps the helmet was an improper fit [and triggered the vertebrae to shift]. When I got home, the pain was so severe that I could not get up. After being discharged from the hospital, I still need to wear a neck brace.”

  1. He needs a vacation, seriously.

Its too bad that this injury is affecting his career at prime time.

TVB overworked them, maybe its time that artist needs a legit union for god shakes.

  2. Looking at the latest pics in his new TVB drama film with Charmine Sheh with that crappy Ah Wong’s haircut drama. Filming in Kennedy Town, Hong Kong….

    (link: http://orientaldaily.on.cc/cnt/entertainment/20100908/photo/0908-00282-022b5.jpg)

He still wears a neck brace when he is not in filming. By looking at his expression in that pic, he is in pain; hell.

So, TVB… if you want to put money on Raymond Lam as the face of TVB empire, you better give him some rest time.

  3. Poor Raymond! I hope that he gets well soon. I bet he has been way overworked. TVB always overworks their artists and underpays them. I think that is why many artists just join TVB during the beginning of their career so that they will get noticed. But once they get popular, they leave. However, a lot of artists feel indebt to TVB so they always come back to them even after leaving for several years.

  4. first pants too tight, now helmet too tight. I think he won’t have proper rest, he would when his spine snaps from the way he is overworked.

  5. Funn, you’re being very mean. LOL And yes, he does if he don’t stop.

“Charmaine, pls be gentle to Raymond’s neck”.

  6. From this and all other articles, seem like his concern is not wanting to hold everyone back from their schedule bcos of him, hence rushing to work. No.1 it defutes all the prince disease he was accused of and no.2 proves his professionalism. Trust he knows how to adjust himself to recover soon.

I can understand him not wanting to forego the opportunity to star in a movie with Jet Li! Again, hope he knows his limits.

  7. He has a vertebrae shift and he only get 2 days off?

TVB, you got to be kinda to your staff, especially your money making tree.

  8. Never thought Raymond has the prince disease despite being accused of so. He even piggybacked veteran actress Leung Sun Yin to the film set when she’s not feeling well once.

  9. Hasn’t TVB learnt it’s lesson from Mr. Chan Hung Lit’s incident that if you work your staff too hard, you will only end up working them into the ground?? haih… TVB’s artists really need a good workers union…

  10. I am not sure Chan Hung Lit died because of being overworked, but who really knows?? I never thought of Raymond having the prince disease ever. I wonder if people accuse him of that because he comes from a wealthy family? Artists that come from a wealthy family are often stereotyped as having a prince aura…. That happens to Wu Chun from Fahrenheit a lot so he oftens plays those princely roles in the Taiwanese idol dramas.

  11. Poor Raymond. I feel so bad for him. His parents must be frantic seeing their son like that, maybe they will make him leave the industry a little earlier before his health deteriorates even further. You are not young forever nor invinsible, so hope that he recognize it and seek some time off from management. Getting some real rest would be the only way to properly heald and get healthy.

  12. Totally agree with you Jayzemine. I bet Raymond’s parents are really worried about him. It’s not like he or his family really needs money since his family is well off. But it seems that he has a lot of passion for acting and singing, so I don’t know if his parents want to force him to leave the circle if he does not want to.

  13. “Artists that come from a wealthy family are often stereotyped as having a prince aura…. That happens to Wu Chun from Fahrenheit a lot so he oftens plays those princely roles in the Taiwanese idol dramas.”

But, the guy is in fact very humble and down to earth.
Anyway, I think Wu Chun’s princely aura does not come from the fact that he’s from wealthy family. It’s his look. He does have a princely look.

  14. I know Wu Chun is humble and down to earth(I am a fan of his and Fahrenheit). From what I know, Wu Chun’s princely aura does partially come from the fact that he is from a wealthy family. He is also from Burnei which is a country that still has royalty. I heard that the king or someone liked Wu Chun and wanted him as his godson or something like that… Therefore, I think that sort of influenced his princely aura… His looks are also a part of it too, but it isn’t the only thing.

  15. Yeah, I remember he has shook hand with the king or some royalty before. There’s a photo. But, I don’t remember the details. It’s for a sport event or maybe the opening of his gym.

Btw, my country also still have royalty. 🙂

  16. Kidd, aren’t you from Singapore? I don’t think they have royalty anymore.

  17. LOL to HeTieShou’s comment.
    Wu Chun is another hunk.

Yeah, I don’t Raymond’s parents will force him to leave the industry as they love their son and respect what he does. But, does not mean that he needs to take every possible job that is out there.

  18. “Kidd, aren’t you from Singapore? I don’t think they have royalty anymore.”

That means I’m not from Singapore. 😉

  19. I guess you are not from Singapore Kidd. Are you from Thailand then??

    Jayzemine,
You are right and I totally agree that Raymond does not need to take every job out there. He can take what he is able to handle.

  20. Raymond is the person who will undertake all responsibilities that he is given. A very brave guy that I’m proud to love.

  21. Poor dear Ray! His workload is too much. TVB is too cruel to Ray. They know Ray can bring a lot of money so they overworked him like crazy. I can’t believe that they make Ray go to work when still being injured. Ray is a rare professional actor I’m sure not many will go to work with an injury like what he did. He should just stay at home and rest but he keep on working and show his professionalism. The media should stop saying Ray is acting like a prince just because he is rich and handsome. Ray is in fact TVB’s most valuable male artiste now.

It’s great that Ray won the role for the Jet Li movie but it will be a risk to his poor condition. His passion for acting is so strong to stay continue for the movie.

  22. Jayne!!! Please have more articles on Ray Lam??!?!? Thank you n appreciates it !!! His wining skills are better than acting. Honestly I agree with Funn. His pants are way too tight in mysteries of love I. The scene when tavia was crying in the harbor and lum fung left her. Even in his concerts his clothes are way too homo. He needs a better stylist with the fame, money n power. He needs to hire me. I’ll make him dress like a man!!!!! Sorry but it’s the truth even though I have a crush on him in that cooking drama with Miriam yeung, flora chan and Lawrence ng.
