Wong Cho Lam and Leanne Li Celebrate Daughter’s First Birthday

After tying the knot in 2015, Wong Cho Lam (王祖藍) and Leanne Li (李亞男) got busy and had their daughter Gabrielle last year. Yesterday, the couple celebrated her first birthday with a two-tier cake. However, Gabrielle’s name was misspelled on the cake!

Cho Lam expressed on social media, “[Gabrielle’s] name is really difficult to spell, and even the cake lady misspelled it. Actually, I don’t really know how to spell it either. Everyone can call her Gabby. I need to choose a simpler English name next time.”

Leanne also dedicated an Instagram post to her daughter. She wrote, “Happy first birthday! Happy birthday my dear princess!! Mommy and daddy will always love you and cherish you until you have someone else to love you.”

Good friends Grace Wong (王君馨) and Christine Kuo (苟芸慧) both attended the birthday party, and Christine brought homemade macarons. The ladies took photos with the treats as well as with the birthday girl, who looked adorable in pigtails.

After the photos were shared, netizens immediately discussed the one-year-old’s appearance. They expressed Gabrielle used to resemble Leanne when she was younger, but her nose is beginning to look more like her daddy’s now.

  1. Love how Leanne chose an English name her husband can’t even pronounce. Although she’s from Canada, I think it’s so pretentious to deliberately give your child an English name that most Hongers can’t pronounce.

    1. @chena Uhh..most HKers can’t spell English names unless they are ‘May’ or ‘Apple’ LOL and who cares if others can’t spell or pronounce the name.. as long as the parents can. It’s only fair that the better English speaking parent picks the English name, as I’m sure Cho Lam and his parents picked a Chinese name Leanne isn’t familiar with either.

    2. @chena Gabrielle’s Chinese name is Wong Tian Wan 王天韻, meaning gifted in music. Leanne would not have come up with that Chinese name and meaning. Just like a lot of ABC’s would not know what Tian Wan 天韻 means.

  2. Gabrielle is not an uncommon name. There r a few Gabrielle’s I know. It is not an easy name to spell but not a name people couldn’t pronounce
