Gavin Gao’s Assets are Frozen

Chinese actor Gavin Gao Yunxiang (高云翔), who is currently on trial in Sydney, Australia for sexual assault, has all of his assets frozen.

Beijing’s No. 1 Intermediate People’s Court has ruled that all assets from Beijing Yexuan Culture, a company invested by Gao and his wife Michelle Dong Xuan (董璇), to be frozen. It’s been reported that Zhejiang Talent, the production and distribution company behind The Legend of Ba Qing <巴清传>, has filed for protective measures on the assets of Gao and Beijing Yexuan Culture, totaling 63.82 million yuan. The application was approved as of January 4, 2019.

Zhejiang Talent’s reasoning behind the freeze is because of Gao’s sexual assault case, which has impeded the promotions and broadcast The Legend of Ba Qing. It is speculated that Zhejiang Talent plans on claiming compensation from the actor.

The Legend of Ba Qing also stars Fan Bingbing (范冰冰).

In addition, broadcasting plans for upcoming dramas such as Son of Hero <惊天岳雷>, Tango <探戈>, and Anaya’s Love <阿那亚恋情>, all which starred Gao, are put on hold. If these dramas fail to achieve a broadcast date, it is highly possible that its producers will also be asking for compensation from Gao.

  1. I am.beginning to feel.sorry for Gao. Did he sign a contract that he will.not get into any ‘trouble’?

  2. While this guy deserve to be in jail for what he did, I don’t think it’s right? Unless in the contract said he must keep up good characteristics and can’t actively sabotage the promotion of his new series, he can’t help it if Chinese law is stupid? And if it’s not well known that your series won’t get air date if you are getting caught by the law, then he can’t be held liable for this? Also 62 million is hardly enough to compensate for win the world since its budget was blew way out due to FBB’s fashion requirements, let alone compensating any other dramas. Also it seems this article left out the fact that his wife and him have separated their asset so only his is frozen, plus he has withdrawn from their company as stakeholders, so only his wife is the main stakeholder. Regardless, he will just declare bankruptcy?

probably a clause somewhere in the contract, like how all management companies those Asian countries have clauses that don’t allow their idols to admit they have boyfriends or get pictures taken of them with other men.

they probably froze of all of his assets while they determine the appropriate sum.

  3. If gavin gao is fined shouldn’t fbb also be fined? Both of their personal issues have affected the drama. The only people I feel bad for are the innocent cast members that aren’t getting paid.

What do you mean by other cast members not being paid? I’m sure everyone got paid depending as normal after they completed work. Their pay won’t be affected by whether the series airs or not. Do you mean the investors?

  4. i don’t feel sorry for him; i feel sorry for his family. hope his family has enough currency flow to keep up with costs of living. aside from that, since he committed the crime, he does the time.

FBB is probably being pursued by other vendors for breach of contract, among other things. But last I heard, it sounds like she’s aiming for a comeback. She may go the way Martha Stewart did. We’ll see.

    1. @coralie yea, I heard the same. However, isn’t win the world produced by FBB’s company? So they wouldn’t really sue her? And apparently she’s endorsing D&G lol

      1. @littlefish you sure it’s D&G? if so, that’s a really bad move on her part. clearly screams lack of foresight. i don’t think she’s that dumb.

and WTW had multiple investors. she’s the producer & one of the leading investors, i assume. but she has to answer to other investors as well.

      2. @coralie my bad, not endorsing rather selling some of her own D&G stuffs on her website (she might be running out of money and try to sell the stuffs that she owned to earn enough money to pay the government lol, at least that’s why people think she used her website for). That was a quick read and got the word wrong lol.

Good thing since he made his money because the country has given him opportunities. Committing a crime in China is one thing since it can be covered up but committing potential high profile rape abroad is just an embarrassment to his country. What self destruction!!
