Succeeding the time slot of Girlie Days <她她她的少女時代> will be the highly anticipated Barrack O’Karma <金宵大廈>, created by the writers behind 2017’s hit series The Exorcist’s Meter <降魔的>.
The supernatural drama, starring Joel Chan (陳山聰) and Selena Lee (李施嬅), is set in an old apartment building that has a mysterious and supernatural aura. The story follows the supernatural journeys of 10 residents, including the mysterious disappearance of a single mother’s son, the strange movements of a bookstore owner, an otaku who stalks his neighbor, and the mysterious appearance of a young wife who pushes a sealed-up baby carriage.
Joel, in his first drama as first lead male, plays the apartment building’s security guard. He has a star-crossed romance with the flight attendant Alex, played by Selena. He discovers that Alex resembles the woman in his dreams who wears a qipao. Their romance begins in the 1960’s.
According to producer Yip Chun-fai (葉鎮輝), the drama is similar to The House of 72 Tenants <七十二家房客>, in which strange stories are used to bring out a message that reflects the current society.
Barrack O’Karma will also be crossing over with TVB’s Our Unwinding Ethos <十二傳說>, which aired this summer: the character Dr. Poon, played by Rosina Lam (林夏薇) in Our Unwinding Ethos, will be making a guest appearance in the drama as herself.
The drama premieres September 16, 2019. It also stars Samantha Ko (高海寧), Kelly Cheung (張曦雯), and Zoie Tam (譚凱琪).
