“Street Dance of China” Season 3 Announces Winner

Team member Yang Kai clinches victory while Wang Yibo places fourth.

After three months, the finale of Youku-produced talent show Street Dance of China 3 <这! 就是街舞3> took place on October 3, with nearly a million people catching it live at the Shanghai Oriental Sports Center. The hotly-discussed dance battle program was not just a platform for diverse street dance performers, but also showcased the dancing talents of popular celebrities Wallace Chung (钟汉良), Lay Zhang (张艺兴), Jackson Wang (王嘉尔), and Wang Yibo (王一博), explaining its high ratings and positive reviews.

Over Seven Hours of Live Streaming

The third season’s anticipated finale aired in live format for over seven continuous hours, marking a first for a Chinese variety program, with the production team putting in special effort to present a memorable closure.

Captains from the show’s previous seasons including Jackson Yee (易烊千玺), Han Geng (韩庚), Vanness Wu (吴建豪), as well as previous winners and special guests S.K.Y (天空少年团) and Liu Yuxin (刘雨昕) were all invited for the live finale, adding on to the hype.

Wang Yibo Happy for Team Member

Chengdu contestant Yang Kai (杨凯), who was part of Chinese actor Wang Yibo’s (王一博) team, continued his lead and won the final PK dance segment to be crowned the champion of the third season – the first time the breaking dance style won. Wang Yibo posted a social update in the evening, in which he said he is “not a great dancer” and announced his fourth position on the show.

Wang Yibo was elated at his team member’s victory, proclaiming that spreading the love of street dance is much more meaningful than a win or loss. Showing his emotional growth, the 23-year-old also quoted coach Wang Han’s (汪涵) words in summing up his experiences on the reality show, “Treat others earnestly, learn humbly and do everything sincerely.”

  1. Yes I watched live on tv and it was really extremely good. Congrats to the winner Yang Kai as he really deserves to win although I was rooting for Boubou.

I watched the show for Lay as I am a fan but ended up liking Yibo, and I only know of him in SDC

I watched the show for Lay as I am a fan but ended up liking Yibo, and I only know of him in SDC. He is really cool and a very good looking guy. Jackson is good looking too with his funny side. Wallace looks good for his age. In fact all the team captain is good looking, but Yibo has that extra something about him.

If i am one of the contestants and can choose to be in a team, i would choose to be in Jackson’s team. He is really a good team leader and takes care of his members well. He encourages and motivates his members and ease their pressure. Look at how he treat KK when she got injured and how he consoled Xiao Chao when he was crying backstage. Overall all the team captain are good leaders but Jackson is the best 🙂

  4. I have supported keven since ep 1, together with his best bud, Xiaojie. My dream top 2 would have been them. Fans are crying foul because they think bouboo should or would win. or me keven is deserving winner. Xiaocao deserved his runner up status even if when the last battle started he was dead tired. Even I was dead tired. The show was more than 8 hours long. Even DJ ALone probably fell asleep. All audience if depended on public transport will need to walk home. The organisers need to buck up if not China will issue another rule; no variety show more than 7 hours. It was insane. Now that I am remembering the wonderful experience, I will say Lay Zhang deserved higher standing with his team performances than he was afforded. His performances are those you will need to rewatch to appreciate. I am yibo fan but I feel his team performances were always meh to me but did better thanks to Yibo’s explosiveness. I still can’t forgive Wallace for cutting Xiaojie before his time is up so he can retain his beloved Sulianya who was good but was abysmal in battle. Imagine if that battle was Xiaojie, it would have been a highlight. Jackson to me is my great discovery. Love him. Love the show, could do better with honest editing and better arrangement but unlike some fandoms, I don’t think it was fixed. Keven is the deserving winner. He was a beast!

    1. @funn

I only watch the Grand Final and didn’t follow other episodes except the Water Battle episode. The dance I like the most is the ‘Gift of Time’ dance by Xiao Zhibin. I rewatched it many times.

I read in Chinese forum that Xiao Jie was injured and at the time of elimination, he hasn’t fully recovered. That was one of the reason Wallace chose to eliminate him. If that was true, Wallace did the right thing. For a dancer, his body is his asset. He has other platform to show his skill after he fully recovered.
