Scarlett Wong Provides Update on Her Sister, Jacqueline Wong

Five months have passed since the affair between Jacqueline Wong (黃心穎) and Andy Hui (許志安) came to light. The scandal was a shock to the entertainment industry and even affected Jacqueline’s elder sister, Scarlett Wong (黃心美) who became the target of netizen’s negative comments. On September 6, Scarlett attended a public event where she provided updates on Jacqueline and shared how their family handled the aftermath.

Jacqueline Taking Responsibility for Actions

While Scarlett agreed with previous reports that Jacqueline left Hong Kong, Scarlett did not comment further, “I don’t want to comment. She was wrong, but we are family. I will stand on her side.”

Scarlett shared that Jacqueline was depressed following the scandal and needed time to face herself and deal with the consequences. Asked when Jacqueline will return to Hong Kong, Jacqueline replied that she didn’t know, “Hopefully she can come back and face everyone when she is ready, so people won’t ask me anymore.”

Impact to Family

It was unavoidable that Jacqueline’s family will be troubled by the incident. Although Jacqueline’s parents were not happy, Scarlett revealed that the family will work hard and face it together. Despite the difficulties in moving forward, the family are united and will endure.

When Jacqueline disabled netizens from commenting on her social media pages immediately after the incident, Scarlett received the bout of attacks from netizens. However, Scarlett will not let the negativity affect her because she didn’t do anything wrong, “If they feel better after venting to me, let them vent. Haters gonna hate. I am the eldest sister; I can suffer.”

On a side note, i think that netizens had gone too far by flooding scarlet’s insta. She did nothing wrong

Andy Hui, at the very basic, held a press conference, acknowledged his mistakes, and apologized to parties involved. The consequence of putting himself in the public spotlight to be criticized by the media and the public.

Jacqueline never uttered a word publicly (IG doesn’t count). There was never a platform for the public to criticize and the media to question her actions and behavior. This is the achilles heel to the end of her acting career if cheating on Sammi Cheng’s husband wasn’t devastating enough.

Personally, I don’t think a press conference was necessary because it was a personal matter. Andy Hui doesn’t need to publicly apologize to anyone, but this is Asia we are talking here.

HK netizens are just as over-emotional, irrational and abusive as the C-netizens they complain about

lol also what’s with that martyr complex “i’m the eldest sister, i can suffer” ??????

she calls it “suffering” ? wow… much suffering. someone pls give her a medal.

yes she didn’t do play any part in the affair, and i agree netizens shouldn’t flood her ig with curses, but the way she acts and speaks just piss me off. “haters gonna hate”

HATERS? People don’t hate because it’s fun, or because they’re haters. People are angry because they love sammi.
