The Education Background of these Artists May Shock You

Make no mistake — having a solid educational background can definitely increases the chances of having a good future, but education may not be the key for the money. The following six artists are so successful at what they do, it’s hard to believe that they literally came from nothing.

No. 1: Tamia Liu Tao (刘涛)

One of the highest-paid actresses in Chinese television, the Nirvana in Fire <琅琊榜> star joined an art ensemble for the military in Nanjing when she was only 16 years old. She has been on the Forbes China Celebrity 100 four times since 2014.

No. 2: Zanilia Zhao Liying (赵丽颖)

No.3: Huo Siyan (霍思燕)

Huo Siyan debuted in the industry when she was still in high school. After getting scouted by a talent agent, she was suggested to try out for a role in a new television series. Although both of her parents are in academia, Huo Siyan did not go back to school after graduating high school.

No. 4: Wang Baoqiang (王宝强)

The Detective Chinatown <> star came from humble beginnings. Raised in a village in Xingtai, Hebei, Wang Baoqiang left his family to train at the Shaolin Temple, and when he was 16 years old, he moved to Beijing to start a movie career without the support of his parents. Wang Baoqiang is now one of China’s biggest blockbuster stars.

  1. how is this impressive? they didn’t finish their education due to them choosing a different path. back in the days, only poor kids with little to no access to education chose acting/entertainment. not so true anymore but none of them strike me as impressive. if you want to talk about celebs with brains, utada hikaru, matt damon, natalie portman, tom hiddleston and wentworth miller just to name a few. they were all accepted and some even finished their degrees at the world renown colleges. this article not shocking at all, their education level fits the bill at least for what they are required to do

    1. @m0m0 Wentworth Miller rocks!! haha but unfortunately he’s not that popular besides Prison Break. Had to add James Franco – Had no idea he’s got the brains too. lol..

      1. @wm2017
i am pretty sure i left out many others. wentworth was hot in prison break but for whatever reason, he could keep riding the wave. some people may not enjoy the stress that comes with fame. james franco was amazing in the room(???) movie. he was such an amusement.

      2. @m0m0 OMG…SO HOT!! Then we found out he’s gay. haha lol…. Yes, some don’t care after a while esp WM. I remember the press kept on taking his “getting chub” pictures after PB ended and he said he really didn’t care and being HOT was never his intention to upkeep. I actually never care for James F. haha but I was surprised that he’s highly educated. haha He doesn’t really look it not that there must be a look. haha lol…He’s you know like a normal average joe. Matt Damon on the other hand, he doesn’t need to be a graduate at Harvard to know he’s actually pretty smart. haha lol…. Sometimes it’s the way they carry themselves.

      3. @wm2017
yeah, he was so hot in s1 & 2 but i noticed that he started gaining after that. it’s hard to keep up esp when you’ve buffed up so much for a show. think about it 4 years to maintain the body. chicken breast, protein shakes, low fat intake and endlessly chewing on carbs. it takes a great toll.

    2. @m0m0 I think the article implying their poor education is a stark contrast to their high income and popularity, not the other way around lol

      1. @littlefish
there are probably many others with poor education in showbiz. in fact, there are definitely more with poorer education. look at andy lau, he started at 17, how much education u think he received? anita mui?

      2. @m0m0 Even in in real life if an individual graduated from college does NOT mean they make more $$$ than someone who had ‘0’ degree. haha lol…. Sometimes the work force looks on experience as well not just that piece of paper.

  2. Comparing the non degree veteran actors such as Chow Yun Fat with today’s idols is too disrespectful. Older actors really had to have the skills unlike these soft skin idols today. In the past all actors do their own stunts. Make-up is not the number 1 priority. There was also no CGI. And they cannot hire water army on the internet to create an illusion that they are popular. People during Chow Yun Fat’s time, they worked twice or thrice harder. Idols today got it too easy, it doesn’t even matter where they come from and what skills they have, all they need to do is make sure they look 15 even if they’re 40.

  3. I’m not surprised. Actors are t most educated, well depending where. In China at least theres a performing arts school. The poorer makes the better actors. They have suffered so they know. That’s how I feel.
