Post-Injury Gillian Chung Quickly Returns to Work

On September 7, a fatigued Gillian Chung (鍾欣潼) fell and hit her head against a marble table top surface in her hotel bathroom. The 39-year-old was in Xiamen, China filming for a new movie.

She was immediately taken to the emergency room where she received several hundred stitches in two separate operations for a 6 cm wound on the right side of her forehead. It was said that the cut was so deep that it revealed underlying tissues and bone.

Gillian return to work six days after the operation. Her manager Mani Fok (霍汶希) revealed that she had to return to work with the stitches still on her forehead. Gillian only had a day’s worth of scenes left to film around the time of her injury. Her stitches are expected to be removed this week.

Her costar Ray Zhang (張睿) shared photos he took with his castmate yesterday. He wrote, “Filming has ended! Will be rushing to the next project. So happy that I got a chance to work with the great beauty Gillian Chung. Get well soon!” In the photos, Gillian held up a “V” sign, hiding a corner of her forehead where the stitches are. Gillian was wearing minimum makeup in the photos, but looked to be in good spirits.

Gillian’s face is still swollen from the injury. She had to take anti-inflammatory medication a day prior to returning to work. The crew accommodated by changing camera angles to hide her injury.

  1. Girl basically split her head open and she couldn’t even rest a few days before going to back work. Doesn’t sound like EEG treats her well.
